Does anyone use trail cams at their bear baits? I just bought a new trailcam and was thinking of using it at one of my bait sites but I know when I used to use Trail Timers, Yogi used to chew them up. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with these at bear baits? I'd hate to wreck a $300 camera.

Used trail cam on last bear hunt at bait site, nice pic of bear tearing it off of tree it was attached too lol.Luckily no damage to cam .

I use mine at the bait site. It is bolted to the tree with 1/2"x5" lag bolts. I also have it in a metal breaker box that was the right size for the camera. So far we have not had any damage to it. Just a few tooth marks on the metal.

I think HeavyBullet had a problem with his cam & bears...he put up a picture of a nice protective steel case.

Put your cam higher in the tree...pointed down at the bait site.

I ran 2 bear bait sites last Fall. Both had my homemade trailcams setup for like 2 months. I had 9 different bears coming in regular. The bears never bothered the camera's. I think the mistake most people make is getting food scent on their trailcams. If it's just a clean camera the bear shouldn't be interested in it.
