Looking at buying an IR trail cam, wondering who has the best deals right now...

IR only, no flash...

Moultree Game Spy Infared 4.0 $160 on eBay $289 at frontier, pretty big spread, I would like to support a sponsor but..............................:bangHead:

Well, lets look at that difference for a minute. $160 US is now $192 Canadian with current exchange. Add taxes and duty you are around $220 to $230, depending on how customs want to deal with it. Then shipping, $25 - $ 30 isn't out of the realm of possibilty. So say you can get it here for $260 shipped, seems reasonable.

Now, Frontier is $289 + GST, so $303.45, for that $40, for me, I like the piece of mind that I can send it back if it doesn't work, or if there is a problem, and know it will be taken care of. You are right though, buying off EBAY is cheaper, but............

Before purchasing any trail cam, I would have a look at this site. They do tons of testing and do great reviews of many different camera.

I have the IR Moultrie 4.0, and as usual, there are good points and bad. I paid $200 with batteries incl. here in Mtl, but i believe it was on special.

The battery life is AWESOME for this camera. They had a "whiteout" problem starting with last years model(the one I have). I found that unless it was in sunlight, I always got IR pics instead of color ones. Once there was snow on the ground, all my day pics were in beautiful color. It does take nice pic's. I do not know if Moultrie has fixed the Whiteout problem. I'd say more than half of about 900 pics were in B/W during the day. Oh BTW, at 900 pics my battery was at 77% pretty good I think.

$120-$130 in duty and taxes??? I would say 75-80% of the stuff I buy from the states doesn`t get dinged but the other 20% may be charged the 13% mandated by NAFTA.

www.chasingame.com great site
