Trail cams

Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting a trail cam. My concern is people taking them down, or stealing them.
Has anyone got any tips/story's?

I install mine higher up the tree than recommend. I use a ladder that I hide, or stand up on my four wheeler and install it aiming on a downward angle.

Security box. Lock. Python cable. And best put them in a spot that someone isn't going to walk by

I put nails through my camera "loopholes" where you're supposed to attach the bungee cords to and drive those into a piece of 2x4, which I then use a handful (~10) of 3" deck screws and put it into a nice thick tree at multiple angles. If someone really wants my camera after ripping that thing off they've worked and earned it (cheaper cameras are the way to go when dealing with risk of theft)

Cameras get stolen all the time, my buddy had his stolen on private property a cpl yrs ago. I also usually have two cams not to far from each other, that if one gets stolen, I may have a pic of the crooks on my other cam.

What about the trail cams with the separate receiving hard drive, I think they might be Spypoint? Are they any good?

Of you are putting them on a trail put them second or third tree back so the arent right out there obvious

It's a cool idea for sure, and you would get the pic of the person stealing your cam. My buddy had one that he used in his house, but he had problems with it and ended up throwing it out. But keep in mind he is clueless with electronics, so it might have been him. He also had the first version. Go to www.chasinggame.com, they have tons of reviews on cams, I'm sure they review it. And yes, it was made by Spypoint.
