Got a bit of trailboss .223 data. This with 35gr v-max and 18.5 inch sporter barrel.

9gr ----- 2075 fps
9.3gr --- 2175 fps

Bullets are seated a bit deep, so i think i should be able to squeeze out another 100fps by seating out.

Should work fine for shooting gophers all day long without having your barrel heat up. 7/8 inch groups at 100yds.

reduced 223 loads are fun; I worked up a few with Blue Dot, and with 4227. Though I've pretty much abandoned them, in favour of my 22 Hornet

I plan to do some fall beaver hunting this year. (The trapping season for beaver here opens oct. 1st) Seems to be that .22 WMR and .17 HMR are the favorites for beaver hunting around here. I own neither. I was planning to go with the .22lr, but feel it is a little light. So here is a very good excuse to put my new CZ527 .223 to work? (Bought this summer to carry as my 'trapping gun'). So what I would like to do is load the .223 to run close to .22 WMR velocities. I have .224" 45g 'Hornet' bullets and Trailboss and will give it a try. Hoping for accuracy (under 1.5") at 100yds. Welcome any comments or suggestions from members with experience. Will share my experience if this mission is succesful.....
