Training interest in pistol and carbine

I'll speak up for those of us you shot with at FRPC a few weeks ago and tell you we would be in, just let us know what you need for setup and numbers.

I'd definitely be interested in something like that.

After I get the ammo... and after I'll have recovered from my PLQ.

I'm sure the group would be willing to give up a practice day. I'll ask the exec and the rest of the group then maybe we could work with tritium on a date.

I'm in for carbine and shotgun.

But I really need work with pistol. I hope you can run some basic handing and skills pistol courses. I figure I should do a basic course a couple times to get comfortable with it before thinking about moving to an advanced or tactical pistol course.

Who are you trying to kid?:p

However, you make a good point, even to an experienced and skilled shooter, basic skills courses can provide a lot. I've taken a couple with a gun I was unfamilair to me or to break in a new gun. A basic course can help to develop feel for the gun and to determine sighting and trigger nuances. I've also learned that smoke and mirrors courses are great but fundamentals are the foundation of shooting skills (duh).

I believe that a progressive pistol skills course would appeal to more participants since both IPSC and IPDA have more pistol competitions than carbine or shotgun matches.

I can easily put together a one or two day pistol course and my intent was to focus more in that area anyway due to the growing numbers of IDPA shooters.

For pistol stuff, your IPSC rig will work. The course will help with both IPSC and IDPA shooters and will be of excellent benefit to service members (military and police).
Drills will focus on accuracy, speed, fluidlity, shooting around cover, firearm manipulation and familiarity, etc.

For the carbine, you can run what you nromally run for competition, I run an AR but I can and have taught on other platforms. Heck, I'm also an MP5 instructor.

Hey guys, I'm getting a ton of interest and it's awesome. So, what preferences are there? Pistol or carbine?

So far, there is enough interest for me to travel all over Ontario and even into the west!:dancingbanana:

My preference is pistol but carbine is a close second. I will go anywhere from London to Kingston, unless Steve David drives then I could extend that range. LOL
