Hey guys,

so you live in quebec and you have your RPAL. If you were to go today to your local gun shop and buy your first handgun, how long can you expect to wait before the transfer papers are processed by the CFO office and you actually HAVE your gun?

Anything you can do to speed up the process?

cheers.

I've had to wait about 2 weeks for my papers to be processed but it doesn't mean that it won't take longer. In terms of speeding up the process..... Well, not much you can do. Just make sure that you are a member of a range and have done your law 9 course (otherwise you will have delays).

thanks for the info.

Avilon514, you say i have to make sure i have my law 9 and belong to a range...how important is this? i checked on the transfer form, and could not find a section that asked this. Is this something they check even tho its not on the form? I'm only asking because i would have guessed the RPAL lets you ACQUIRE guns, law 9 is a different story?

also another small question : if you register a gun as your weapon to go target shooting, but then for some reason would have to stop going to the range (not enough time, low on cash, etc)...can you change the use of the pistol to a "collector" use so you don't have to get rid of your firearm?
