The RCMP told you nothing, a civilian secretary working at the call center gave you their opinion.
Shawn
That's exactly how I feel as well. Unfortunately the only option is to take their advice or trust the opinion of some guy on the internet.
Which is is why I've always just taken their advice even though I completely disagree with it.
Or you could look it up and know what the law actually is
Shawn
Easy to say but the reality is it doesn't matter what the law is. All that matters is what the officer "thinks" the law is when they find out you're transporting restricted firearms without the registration.
After that you can go through all the BS in our legal system to prove you're right and get your firearms back while I'll be happily sitting in my living room with my legally owned firearms waiting for the paperwork to arrive.
Like I said, I know what the laws are and I don't agree with their "opinion" on the matter. But it is what is, and some times you just have to play the game...
How does talking to a secretary at the CFC tell you what the "officer" thinks the law is?
This is literally black and white, there is no offense. There is nothing an officer can charge you with.
Shawn
So you do wait for the reg cert to get your gun at the post office right? Or from the store, right? Because if you get arrested do you think the cop will care about store, post office or range being the destination?
It doesn't matter how black and white it is, that's not how our legal system works. It doesn't matter what you can or can't be charged with you're still fighting to get your firearms back.
You are guilty until proven innocent.
Or you can avoid the whole mess and just do what the cfo tells you to do. Your choice.
