Transfer of firearms at CFC- your experience?

I just bought 2 restricted guns just over a week ago and I found that things move faster with email, everything is in my name and good to go, just waiting for 1 of the guns to arrive by mail, went to the range with my SR9 for the first time yesterday...I can never get through to the provincial FO by phone but emails are answered the same day...so maybe try to get an email address instead

I call them on Skype, put it on speaker and then work until they pick up 20 minutes later due to "heavier than normal call volume" which happens every time I call them....

I hate calling them but they are the law. Useless parasites but the law.

its the worst, longest when your waiting for your first gun. after that its a slight nuisance, but you don't notice it as much cause you already have one. its usually closer to 2 weeks on a private deal...im still waiting for a transfer from march 30th as well

It took to transfer (retail business to a customer) 2 days to get the transfer approved. I called in with a reference # and it was approved before I hung up the phone. This was back in mid March.

Thanks to all who have answered my question. I called this morning and yes.. they were missing a paper. Sent it electronically 3 minutes after I hung up. Now,I'll wait and hope it will not take as long as Ontario....

My last handgun was 1 hour or so (private sale Alberta only). My AR was started yesterday afternoon, complete by 8am today (private sale, Onario seller).

Every time I call in I get amazing help and they are always professional and polite.

Bought a FN from an Ontario Retailer... at 8pm picked it up the next day at Noon...

Usually pretty quick here in Ontario..

Got approval of transfer today.... 3 weeks of wait not too bad! :)

Good news! I'm not going to lie I skipped to the last page but three weeks is along time in AB, did they have to verify your club membership? Or any obstacles? I've never had a transfer to me go longer then 2 business days. I do purchase a lot but I don't think that makes a difference. In the last week I had two transfers done in 24 hours but I'm waiting on shipping a pistol to ON for a over a week now.

It is my first restricted so yes they had to verify my club membership. I know it seems a very long time for Alberta, but since I'm new to the shooting sport and restricted, I had to go through all the loops I guess. :) Besides, CFO and CFC seems very busy. I had great service tough from them, always friendly.

My first restricted transfer took about 12 hours(next day) second one was a 20 minute wait on phone and a 5 minute wait for the email to reach my phone. However when my 24 and 21 year old daughters bought their 1st restricted , they got the run around for 3 weeks. Possible age discrimination?

Ok that's exactly why it took that long, expect much faster transfer times now. I've always had great and friendly service as well, I once was given wrong information in regards to my LATT but luckily I did not get burned.

Cheers
