Transfer of non-restricted rifle from QC to ON

Hello everyone,

I am about to purchase, this weekend, an SKS from someone residing in Quebec while I live in Ontario.

Can someone run me through the exchange process as in what’s required from me and what’s required from them?

I have only ever purchased from a store in Ontario where all they required was my PAL number.

Wasn’t sure if process is different since I believe Quebec has a registry for non-restricted rifles?

We are supposed to meet in person to do the exchange but the seller is requesting a full picture of my PAL which makes zero sense to me. You never send a picture of any kind of ID to anyone.

Waiting for his answer on the reasoning behind his request but I have a strong feeling that I will be pulling out of this agreement.

Once the PAL verification is done, you pay, that's it for you.

The seller has to inform SIAF (if the firearm is registered in Quebec) that he sold the rifle out of province

What you outlined is exactly what my understanding of the requirements was so I am confused about him asking for a picture of my PAL.

I appreciate the input thank you 🙏

I mean, sending any picture of any type of ID just simply isn’t smart in general, nothing to do with fear.

We live in a messed up world where fraud is rampant.
 
Someone feels they need to cover themselves with belt, suspenders, and elastics. Send the particulars and tell the seller that's all he gets. I wouldn't send a picture of my primary document just because a seller thinks it is required.
 
Ended up meeting the person face to face and he explained he was misinformed by a friend about what was required so we rectified the situation and went ahead with the transaction with what's actually required and all went well.

Yes... When I was selling a non restricted I always provided the buyer with a picture of my PAL and my phone number and my email. I wanted the same from the buyer.
