Transfer times in Alberta

Bought from AB dealer June 5. Still nothing. I had a custom pistol exported from USA by Irunguns about a week ago, obviously no news on that one yet other than the pistol is in Sherwood Park.

Purchased May 31 from the big Manitoba online retailer. As of today I have not received the ATT. Last week I received the actual Firearms Registration Certificate in the mail for the item in that order. Go figure!?

Within the immediate household a few more orders where placed June 1 from retailers in Alberta. All the ATT's for those orders were emailed within 1 week, all Registration Certificates have been received by email as of yesterday for those June 1 orders.

Cross Eyed, according to at least one major retailer the AB CFO is not issuing Buyer/Seller Notifications. So you have to scan and send a copy of the Registration Certificate to the business. They can then release the firearm.

I’m waiting for a retail purchase on the 4th and an EE purchase that was jointly transferred June 8. No sign of either in my email or mail. Fingers crossed they make it to the top of the pile at some point.

I bought my first ever restricted firearm from a dealer on June 16 in AB. Still nothing. Does your first gun take longer than subsequent purchases?

Typically would add a week or so. At this point hard to say. They are at least a month behind at the moment. Under normal circumstances it took a week for me.

You will also have to wait for a new PAL to be issued. This usually takes a couple weeks, but who knows right now. The new PAL will have transport conditions attached.

Is it true that final approval is being sent to Miramichi rather than AB CFO???? I heard that rumor at a local store.

Hell I just want to know if they are even answering the phone.

keep staying on hold and they drop the call over and over.

EDIT: oh dropped again 20 min seems to be the limit

EDIT AGAIN: or they just drop you entirely

Heard that after an extended period of silence that they will hang up on you. Seemed to work if I was on hold near the radio or at work in a noisy shop, was able to stay on the line for about 35 mins

I’m still waiting on a transfer initiated on June 7th. I’ve received my gun from a transfer started June 3rd and completed June 8th. I have another from IRG that was imported a few weeks ago and will probably be waiting months at this point. Definitely a major slow down going on in Alberta.

Still waiting on June 6th. June 2nd transfer completed June 14th.

The AB CFO will eventually pick up. Took me 45 minutes to get through. They do like dropping calls. Had the same problem with the guys who do restricted transfers. Although the restricted transfer guys took 700+ calls over 3 days...

I can’t believe that it’s only a couple days and it will have been a month since my transfer was initiated and still not approved. Did everyone at the cfo office take holidays surely they will have gone through the backlog due the lack of stock in this country now ?

Seems like every thread I read involving Alberta transfers going through the last few days is because they called the AB CFO, and that goes for a lot of store purchases not private sales. Either that is slowing down everyone else’s transfers or it’s really what we’ve all got to start doing to get our transfers processed?

I thought it was a FCFS situation? Didn't know we could call them to speed it up lol

When I called yesterday the lady basically said calling in isn’t going to speed anything up. She verified all my transfers were pending approval and checked they had all my info correct while I was on the call. She said transfers are averaging 4-6 weeks. She also said people who haven’t had restricted firearms before are typically the ones waiting the 6 weeks+.
