Transfer times in Alberta

Business in AB to AB, purchased Aug 1
Called 34 times over the last 2 weeks, most of the time got the "We cant answer your call" message
Once I did get answered, 28 mins total call time
Ref #6001### in my email before the call was done, only wanted my name and License #

I am stunned that some of you are able to have recent transfers completed.

I was able to get through this morning on the 9026 extension and was told the approval was in queue with the Alberta CFO and I would just have to keep waiting.

Sitting on hold with Alberta 9026 for 50 minutes now. Still no answer, and I called right at 830 this morning upon opening.
Not sure how the lines can be that busy when I called right t opening time, but it's government so.....

I decided to call the CFP and see if I could get some transfers completed. I called and waited on hold for a bit (earlier in the day waiting on hold wasn’t an option.) when I got someone on the line I told her I had some transfers to complete. She asked me the questions and I answered for each of the reference numbers I had. She said they still had to be approved and couldn’t offer a timeline (which is understandable these days.) Not exactly sure what I accomplished by calling, if it sped the process up at all…

You need to talk to the AB cfo. Extension 9026. The regular line can’t help you

I have been successful calling in twice to 9026 to get old transfers >2 months done. The 2nd time even said call back as often as you can to complete more.

The third time was grumpy and said that she couldn’t help an Alberta transfer.

The last time I was told that I’m under review and to expect a call from a local officer to ask some questions. Thankfully I talked to this wonderful lady otherwise my transfers would have never been completed waiting for someone to get assigned the case. She could at least assign it so it will get actioned sooner. Yikes!

I've had good luck calling in, all good ladies until the last one had quite an attitude. But still had them approved in a few days, the lady before the grumpy one said to call back 24 hours after they receive the transfer from the transfer unit

You got flagged ? How did that go?

Not sure. I’m waiting for the officer review whatever the issue is and complete their review or possibly call me? Not sure how long that will take. From others, it sounds like purchasing two restricted of the same make / model / caliber is a flag so it might just be that. Who knows.

But annoying that they cannot process any of my transfers until the review hold is complete.

I Just got my approval this morning for my September 27 transfer.
Called in to 9026 and waited for about 15 minutes on hold, she looked up my reference number and then came back on the line and said " I just approved it and you should have an email waiting for you. The seller also should have the email."

Ive spent time calling in in the last few weeks and have been on hold for quite a while before I get kicked off. But this morning I had luck on my side.
Happy Birthday to me.

Update Transfer complete, only 1 day, was on the phone with the seller and cfb to start the transfer yesterday and today called at 10am mnt time waited 1hr, AB CFO approved the transfer on the spot dam, wish getting my RPal was this quick but i am very grateful to the very nice lady who did the transfer. God i love Alberta.
Ps make them laugh that's what got me my very first transfer approved in one day

there is something else. i never been flagged by the bc/yukon cfo for the same model caliber purchased in multiple purchases at the same time.

I finally got a transfer notice. From the June 30th Switzer's Auction sale.

Transfer was apparently initiated July 5th, reference# 5960###.

The notification must have gone to the auctioneer at the same time it came to me, because I had a Canada Post shipment notification in my inbox 7 hours after the transfer notice, before I even saw it was there.

And, here's another transfer notice.
From the C&R Endeavours July 20 "handguns only" auction.

Transfer initiated August 2, #5981###.

So compared to my one above: started 28 days later, numbers are 21,000 apart, and they finished within 6 days of each other.
