Transfer times in BC

Apparently the BC CFO is a devout liberal and seems to think she decides how many handguns someone can own.. even though they are a law abiding citizen with security clearance for work and a clean criminal record, apparently buying several before you can never buy them again is enough to alarm her and get flagged and delayed… this is ####ing stupidity.. the CFO should be voted in.. The paperwork hit the CFOs desk on June 4th, and because The purchase was several of the same make and model, Its time to be shook down like a criminal.. guess a guy couldn’t want parts guns when he probably won’t be able to acquire parts ever again either… hmmm… that’s too logical.

#### this is getting stupid. How the hell can the bc cfo go from 24 hour turn around to 24 days when I ordered before most people it seems.. no wonder I sold all my Rs jumping through even more hoops and waiting for some office turd to do their job is Infuriating. Got so sick of waiting I called and cancelled two of my orders and bought a couple shorty Fx9 uppers. #### you Justin you slob #####.

It's just the worst possible timing. Weather's starting to get nice, people have vacation time they want to use etc. There's probably like 10 people that work in that office processing transfers. Not like they're going to offer them overtime or bring in extra staff. Just have to be patient... I had one back in the day that was 1 hour from initiation to TN notice email, because the seller was literally moving out of the country the next day. Even if they were on the ball like that - now there's a thousand, maybe five thousand people all rushing to buy everything in sight. There's only 37.5 working hours in the week. If it took an hour for each one, and they have a list of 1000, with 10 staff, that's over 2 weeks of rotating backlog. I would assume that the majority of us have already done our deals in the past few weeks so hopefully it's not just constantly mounting more and more backlog as the guys that don't read the news slowly start making decisions.

The frustrating thing for private sales is just getting through on the phone. I had to get up at 04:20 PST on Friday morning to use the Burner app to get through to the NL CFO when they opened at 0900 goofy time, got through first try, waited on hold for 18 minutes and did the reference number circus. My seller didn't know how to do that and spent all day every day for almost an entire week calling.

Private sales are even more frustrating id imagine.. especially being the seller having someone’s money and not having the time to call 400 times a day..

I finally got to speak to someone… was told because it was multiple of the same male and model of handgun that it’s been put on the back burner for additional scrutiny.. so guess I won’t be able to take part in the shooting competition I had planned to 10 weeks after I purchased the gun.. ffs

I somehow managed to get through to an information officer by selecting the restricted transfer option. They're still super backed up and there wasn't anything he could do to speed things up, just that the transfers were waiting for CFO approval. This is agonizing.

Well it's been three weeks for me and still no transfer notifications on the two handguns I bought from the store.

Not sure I understand Local Firearms Officer . Could you explain what a Local Firearms officer is ? Do not all transfers eventually need to go through the B. C. Chief Firearms Officer

2 transfers: first one paid June 6th approved yesterday, the other paid June 15th approved today. I did notice that the later one went through the local firearms officer - who has authority to approve transfers, which I gather is a bit rare (he's also a good guy and a shooter - we lucked out).

I guess a lot of people in the provincial CFO offices are going to be out of work after the handgun legislation is passed, since no more restricted transfers.

There are "Local" Firearms Officers and as such "local" offices. For example, there are four employees (when there should be at least 8) in the Prince George office (They handle most of Northern BC). The Firearms Officers generally are the ones that deal with range and store related stuff. Generally transfers go through the Provincial office in Surrey though but sometimes the smaller offices can pick up the slack.

Nah, they're most likely unionized so they'll be shuffled around to other departments.

Human Resources will still be required to staff the coming non-restricted registry and transfer approval process if the Liberals win again…

I ordered two handguns from the same vendor on May 30 and June 1. Both transfers came through on one email on June 16. From what I've been told by staff at gun shops is that approvals seem to be quite random and they are not working through them starting from the oldest one. That part is anecdotal of course.

Ok...so called in this morning using the 9530 extension. This is for a June 2 transfer...First try, disconnected at the 10min mark...second try...success!! (after 16min wait). I get a very nice lady (Tanya, I believe)..."let me take care of this for you"...transfer finally done. Now the HG can finally be shipped to me.

Tried calling the BC CFO and was on hold until 2pm and was told they were now closed. Tried both the work phone and the cellphone, same thing.

Tried to call B.C. CFO. This morning as I was doing domestics around the house . Left it on speaker so I could jump on it if someone answered . Nothing for 30 minutes , tried again for 15 minutes . I had to leave it things to do !
