Transfer times in BC

I'm waiting on a few. Oldest from June 3rd. Called 9530 and they still wouldn't approve my transfer. She said she presses a button to see if it gets approved or it doesn't and goes to a cfo... not that it was rejected but needs to be reviewed by cfo.

For anyone wondering about Reg Certificates, just received mine 12 business days after the date on the transfer.

This has been typical for me in BC pre-panic, 10-14 business days.

Same here. I got two yesterday from transfers approved on June 16. I was pleasantly surprised!

I dedicated some time yesterday morning to hit redial as many times as it took and after about 20 minutes of solid effort I got through and successfully got a transfer approved while on the call. Another pending transfer I’m waiting on however, a 593, I was told was “sent to the registry in Ottawa for further review.” The agent I dealt with was very friendly and helpful and just said that “this happens occasionally for a variety of reasons” and I should just give it another couple of weeks.

I’ve owned close to 100 handguns in my life and never heard of this before though. Admittedly, I bought 5 in the first week after the announcement but I’ve bought 5 guns in a week previously and never been flagged before.

Anyone have any light to shed on my situation?

Thanks all.

Waiting on three restricted handguns purchased from local gun shop with transfers started on June 1st. Got through to RCMP 1-800 number today after 45min wait. Person had no idea why the wait and was baffled when I said I had another restricted handgun in my possession with license that I purchased AFTER these three from a shop in Alberta (sent via Canada post). Tried using the 9530 extension, but it just played a message saying they weren't taking calls. Nuts!

Ordered a Legion on the 1st ... Lanz, Nothing
Ordered a shadow systems Glock 5th from tenda, already received transfer on 15th, received gun on 27th
Ordered a canik on 11th, Epps, nothing so far

They are not processing in sequential order, I wonder if they are lost in their system and need a reminder

I read in another thread that multiple purchases have been getting flagged for review due to ‘straw purchase’ concerns. The post I saw was flagged for multiples purchases of the same gun.

Thanks, this is what my gut told me, as the held up gun in question is the same model as one of the others that has already had its transfer approved (and shipped and now in my possession).

Placed two orders on June 3rd and the transfers finally got approved. What an ordeal. I couldn't get through to the BC office initially through the 9530 extension. However, I did the 1-4-2 option and spoke to an information officer who then transferred me to the BC office and somehow that worked.

Lucky you.... I am still waiting on mine from June 2nd.

i purchased 3 handguns of the same model a while ago and never got any trouble from cfo but it was before the crazyness we have all seen ...

Woo hoo…… 39 days and finally approved. Ordered on June 2, transfer approval came at 7:22pm on July 11. Way to go BC CFO. On a side note, I went into the store where I bought it from for a different matter and the owner came to me and let me know that he had spoken with a firearms officer earlier today on a separate matter and also mentioned the backlog of unauthorized transfers in his store and the firearms officer was quite surprised and stated that they had to do “something” to take care of the issue.

Well called in today about two that were started June 10th. She tried to finish them today but instead "went for review". I guess because I bought two Uberti 1851 Colt Navy Percussion Revolvers?

I ran the gauntlet again today, got through after 15 or so tries only to get hung up on after over 30 min on hold. Tried angain and got through in under 10 tries this time, but took 40 min before Kelli picked up, who I think I had last time and was very friendly and helpful.

Anyway, it turns out the last transfer I was waiting on which was “sent for review” was approved last week but no notice was ever emailed.

Moral of the story: it’s worth the hassle to call in. All of my transfers since the announcement have been approved because I called the CFO, while I was on the call with them.

very good ending better than calling our mp lol ...

Still waiting on two from May 30th and one from June 2nd. I guess I need to put telephone time in sounds like the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Looking for a little advise.

I've had my rpal for 15 years but have only ever owned rifles and shot guns. I feel I am being forced to get the handguns I want before C21 shuts it down. I have made four purchases in the past 10 days (from Prophet River, FOC, Northern Elite and Arms East). Other than providing the vendors all the required info, is there anything else I can/should do to help these get through before the freeze? I am unclear if all the advise above in this forum is specific to private sales or is applicable to vendor sales as well.

Any other info/commentary is welcome. I live in the Yukon so I assume it all runs through through the BC CFO.
