Transfer times in BC

Gdawg and Bob
I called today. Using the 9530 extension.
First wait was about 30 minutes. The I received a systems error unable to process your call.
Second time. Got trough within 5 minutes then received firearms closed message.
Which I was confused cause it was only 14:00 pacific time.
Will try to get some time at work tomorrow to try again.

Some other regions provide BC CFO services, so yes it typically closes at 2.

Start early and keep calling. You'll get through. Before the lock, sometimes it took me 30 calls and being on hold for 45 mins but i got through. Shouldn't be as bad now.
good luck.

My wife transferred one of her restricteds to me in early August. BC/BC transfer, we both spoke to the CFO on the same call. Nothing yet. Doesn't matter to us, but I understand how frustrating things are with delays.

Bought a restricted from Prophet River about the same time, and it was in my hands in less than three weeks, with me getting the email transfer before the dealer did.

The BC CFO office (phone) hours are 0900 to 1400. Most of them are working from home. When you get throught to them they will most likely be able to have your transfer approved while on the phone with you.

Instructions for success:
You just have to keep calling. Having the number saved and programmed to push the buttons for you is going to make it a lot easier. I have initated about a dozen transfers, 6 in the last few weeks and it does not take me more than an hour to get through with non stop calling. I've gotten to the point where people are suprised when I conference them for their half of the transfer.

Program the number into your phone as such: 1-800-731-4000,1,,,,,,,,9530
Each comma is a 2 sec pause, you phone will dial the first number then it will pause then push the 1 then pause for 12sec (to wait for the annoying new recording) then it will press the 4 and so on.

If using Android, with the keypad open, start entering the number, then press the three dot button in the top right corner and here you will have the add the pause. Add as many pauses as called for.

If using an iPhone, you have to add the number in a new contact. When you add the number there will be a button in the bottom left corner of the keypad (+*#), select this and there is where you can add the pause as needed.

Doing this all you have to do is press Send and End when you get the "We're sorry..." bit, hang up and just press send again.

I did not have any time today. Will try as soon as I able to be the chance.
Do appreciate this tread. It is of useful information.
Will keep you folks informed.

Called the 9530 ext at about 9:45am Was on hold for about 30 minutes.
Got through and Holly the lovely lady got my CZ Shadow 2 transfer approved.
Bought it on Aug 30.

I managed to get through. The person who answered checked on my reference number and told me to hang tight, it's in the queue, and to call back if it doesn't get approved sometime in the new year. She was very nice but apparently wasn't the actual CFO.

I had the same experience today- spoke to somebody very nice who said that both my transfers were in the queue and to call back in 6 weeks if I didn't hear anything before then. I was all excited when I got through because I thought we would do the transfer over the phone. Nope. These were started August 17th. At least they're in the system so my kid can have them after I bite it.

You guys who are being told you have to wait, are you calling the 9530 extension? Because that sounds like something the Miramichi staff would say, not the BC CFO.

This,
You must call the BC CFO, their information officers will approve the transfer while you wait (in most cases). If you call the general transfers line you will get no where.
See post #725

Update here, initiated on Sep 22, called today just after noon, very nice lady approved my transfer. Last one out of 6 :) reference number 6038###

Aug 15, Ref 5997###, approved December 16th

Yes, it was the 9530 extension, I just checked the preprogrammed dialer on my phone. Must be luck of the draw. Maybe my call got routed to Miramichi for some reason? I was out of province when I called.

I just received a transfer approval yesterday from a August 14 purchase. Ontario to BC transfer. Got the email at 4:16 PM on a saturday which was kind of surprising in itself.

I called the 9530 extension at 9:50am this morning spoke to a really nice lady and she put me on hold for about 5 minutes, got my transfer approval email before she came back to the line to tell me all was good. Total of 17 minutes from the start of the call until I hung up. Transfer started October 13, 2022.
