Transfer Times

I can’t even get anyone on the phone to complete a transfer. 15-30 minute on hold if they will even put you on hold without apologizing for not being able to take your call. Then they hang up. An unacceptable level of service that us peasants must accept.

If that idiot with the socks forces this situation he should be liable for the costs involved
How many of us have had to take time off work to initiate or complete a transfer ?
I’m at about 3-4 days of work missed since June .
That smug little drama teacher owes me money

It's an automated phone system with capacity limits. There is no 'they'. Taking it personally is a poor personal choice.

Yes I agree it is unacceptable. At least it is not just CFO. Passport offices and Immigration are all backlogged for months. It's all aspects of Government. So don't take it personally. That's what I tell myself anyway.

BC transfers haven't been too bad (about a month behind but with some randoms). I had luck with getting through on the phone and having them do 4 transfers at once (took a couple minutes, faster than 4 staff doing 4 individually).

Keep in mind each province has their own CFO, and will be doing things slightly different. Some will send out the transfer notification to the seller, some don't (because that extra field on the email is just too hard...). But a good rule of thumb is once it goes past 30 days from purchase, a call in to your cfo is a good idea, there may be a little error or unfilled field in your transfer that has had it set aside until they get through all the volume of applications. Once you do get your transfer notice, its always a good idea to contact your seller (ideally call, and let them know you are emailing) anyway and cc them a copy of your transfer approval. For little shops (Marstar, Prophet) they usually ship the pistol out in a day or so, bigger shops like Tenda are a week or two right now (they are just so busy and only have so much shipping capacity) and really big stores (Cabela's) are an absolute crap-shoot to deal with, you may get lucky and get quick service, or you may be waiting (my record with them is 7 weeks to ship after the transfers were approved).

Most importantly, as a newbie, it will go through, you are just getting the experience of the system dealing with many times the volume it was designed for. Stressful for everyone (except justin, he's on holidays in costa rice) but it'll come through in the end.

I guess you were lucky. Transfer for June 6th was just approved today. I have not been able to reach the cfo's office by phone, with every call going direct to an automated message.

Not only that, people have lives. I haven't seen my family in 3 years due to COVID and would like to go overseas to visit. But i'm afraid that my transfers will get approved and firearms shipped to my door when I'm out of the country, so I can't even start planning.

Initated the buyer side on a ref# 6041### and initated a sale ref# 6042### both today, sept 27. They told me it should be about a 4 month wait. Both ON to ON private transfers.

That seems like a ver low estimate I’m at 3 and a bit months now and it will still be another 3+ months until they get to me.

Sooooo here's a story for you: I waited MONTHS for a transfer from my father-in-law. Both of us are in BC, and pre-stupidity I would frequently get restricted transfers completed same day. I was also waiting on a prohib-restricted update and transfer on a rebarreled Makarov which was initiated June 13th. Sent a completed RCMP 5492 via registered mail on Aug 15 after hearing nothing. Must've spent a hundred hours trying to get through to BC CFO and CFP without success. Went to my local MP, Mark Strahl last week. Thankfully he is a Conservative and a good bloke. He made some inquiries and *POOF* all the transfers are completed today, including the reclass and transfer of the Makarov. YMMV.
