I never heard of a transfer being reversed. When the gun is transferred, it belong to the new guy and only him can initiate a transfer back to who he want, and there is nothing you can do about it, short of taking him to court.
Only when the transfer are not approved by the CFO, then no transfer take place.
Avoid trouble - like almost everybody wrote - get the money first or no deal. When you are fully - FULLY paid, initiate transfer.
Transfers can be reversed which actually puts huge risk on the buyer. One situation: a buddy bought a gun on the EE, the seller thought the transfer was taking too long (my buddy is in Ontario) and he was moving. Called and had it cancelled after both parties had called in. Luckily the seller refunded the money.
Situation 2: A guy sold me a CZ 75B. Accidentally transferred his Shadow 2 to me. He called the CFP and had the Shadow 2 transferred out of my name even though the transfer had been approved and the reg cert was on its way already.
So it can happen and I don’t agree with it.
Regardless, as others have stated, cash first.
