Trap beginner thinking about a browning BT-99

I started shooting trap competitively when I was 12 with a BT-99 micro plus, then moved to a 99, and now am rocking the BT-100.... Love browning. They fit me like a glove.

Brand doesn't really matter as long as it fits. That's the biggest thing IT HAS TO FIT YOU.

Pretty sure my BT-100 has a 34", the 99 had a 32" and my micro pls had a 30 or a 31.... Can't remember. But the 99 is a solid trap gun. Great for single and handicap.

Posting this makes me want to go visit the gun safe and visit the girls.

Welcome to the sport.

As the Duck said ... fit is the most important. I've never shot a BT-99, but they are a fine gun, if they fit you. I've never heard of one not being 2 3/4" and a 34" barrel is much more popular than the 32".

if its is a newer model bt99 ie 2000 and newer, make sure it's fore end has either been retrofitted with the reinforcing rod, or has it. to look for this take the fore end off and look where the fore end meets the receiver, if there is an allen head bolt running lengthwise it has been retrofitted or was built after browning repaired the weak fore end issues on the newer models. if it doesnt, stay away

just remember if you're thinking of shooting doubles in trap, well a BT99 won't work for that.

I owned a BT99 Plus years ago which was traded off when I got more interested in sporting clays. Good gun that never gave me a bit of trouble.
