I have a early 80s Gamba sl-88 model combo with top single and a set of o/u barrels . Can anyone tell me any about it and its value. Doesnt seem to be much info. around for it and have not even seen any of them around. Was bought in toronto ontario new around 1983.

The SL-88 was Filli. Gamba's design. It's a true BOSS boxlock with a removable trigger, not unlike Perazzis design, but never proved as popular. Well built guns, the SL-88's design was sold to Filli's cousin Renato, at which point it became known as the Daytona. Interestingly, Filli. Gamba was actually building prototype SL-88s for Remington, when the deal fell through he sold the design. The prototype Remington-marked SL-88s are still in Italy.

I've never seen an SL-88 for sale, but early Daytonas seem to languish with $2,500-$3,000 price tags... and they have better triggers. SL-88s are known for breaking springs, and unlike a Perazzi, replacements are falling from the heavens in vast quantities. For many, it's just another gun that, regardless of how nice it is, isn't a Beretta or a Perazzi.

Obviously, pictures would help!

I have shoot close to 80000 rounds thur this gun has had no issues or broken springs has coil springs not leaf. Have not even seen another of these guns other than mine. Not really looking to sell just looking for info. regarding anything to do with it including resale value. Thanks

Ah, ok... that's an SL-88 SLE model, then. Gamba had their own lock design for use in all their SLE models that traded the leafs for coil springs to increase reliability. Wouldn't surprise me if it goes another 80,000 rounds without a hiccup. Nice gun!
