Trap: etiquette and the Ithaca 37?

Would this sequence work?

Fire. Don't eject the spent shell. Put one in the magazine. When it is your turn to shoot, THEN you pump and load.

To any shooter that finds the cycling of a action disrupting while on a trap line obviously is not focused on his game I have shot competitive trap and skeet for 35yrs and never found any such problems as far as having a round in the chamber with a open action that is perfectly acceptable .

No worries; all is good. Yesterday I took the gun out again and tried the methods pointed out in this thread for dropping one directly into the M37's chamber. Works like a charm!:) Thanks guys!

BTW, the gun likes me! Its my new favourite trap gun! The 30" full choke plain barrel is not much to look at, but if I've got the bird anywhere reasonably close to being covered, it turns to dust! :D

Ithaca 37 owners will chuckle knowingly at me, but today I found the BEST way to load a single round into the M37.

1) Slide forend all the way back.
2) Turn the gun over (belly up).
3) Hold gun in one hand, by receiver only.
4) Lay shotgun shell on the 2 steel "fingers" inside the loading/ejection port
5) Push shell all the way down into gun. As you do this, the fingers will go down, causing the forend to slide forward a bit on its own.
6) Slide forend the rest of the way shut to chamber shell.
7) Shoulder gun, yell "Pull!", crush bird :)

2 points:
Uh, if I look and see shooters moving on the line with a closed chamber, I get nervous.
Racking and inserting a fresh shell on your turn puts the line out of sequence.
Find something better.

From time to time I am a little dense, but you will need to explain how doing something on your turn will put anything out of sequence?

Sometimes it doesn't take much to through me off my concentration and the sound of racking a gun would probably be enough to do it. I like to hear an action close on a round when it is the shooters turn to shoot. Just my preference that's all Covey.
Same as I don't like it when people stamp their feet after missing or talk to themselves after they miss. Or give an exaggerated and lenghly gun shouldering exhibition before they shoot.
I am tolerant of all the above but in my perfect world I'd rather not have to be. Call me selfish if you like.:)

pilon,
I think I misunderstood whose turn you were talking about and that by out of sequence you meant being thrown off your concentration. Late pulls? Thought that was pretty much fixed with the voice activated equipment? If you don't have voice activated equipment you must have gotten your late pull from a volunteer who is just trying his best, and only volunteered because no one else would. For me it is best to forgive the poor soul and thank God that I am not the one every one is pissed at. Call me selfish, but I will only pull when asked. I don't go looking for that job!
