Trap Gun Value?

What I know about trap guns you could fit in a thimble........

A fellow whom I know asked me what his trap gun is worth, and I told him I really had no idea.

It is a Winchester model 12Y, 12 ga, 2 3/4" chamber, manufactured in 1972. It is a take-down model (I thought all model 12s were?), with a vent rib barrel and fixed skeet choke. I did not ask barrel length. He says overall condition is 95%.

My rectal pluck was $600, but I told him that was a complete guess.

If it has a fixed "Skeet" choke .... then it would be a "Skeet"" rather than "Trap" gun ( most Trap guns are choked Full ... occasionally
Improved Modified) Y -Model 12 Trap guns are usually 30", Skeet guns
26" ... and yes, they all take down like the original Model 12's.

Value in 95% condition for a good "Y' Trap or Skeet : $ 750 - $ 850, and may bring more form a target shooter who really wants one.

An afternoon at the Kingston Gun Club ? ... might be worth a visit.
They're a very sociable bunch ... off Montreal Street, just north of the 401 as I recall.

yeah it's the italo canadian club. in the kingston phone book. if dougs friend is trying to sell a mod. 12 skeet he might try calling there.
