Hi,

I have just got into the world of firearms and am happily practicing with my 9mm, but I am very eager to try trap.

I am heading up to PCDHFC this Easter Sunday for my first go at it.

I am in need of suggestions!

What type of shot gun should a noob (beginner in video game speak) buy?

I have heard sooooo many different things from friends at work, but one suggested I float the question here.

Cheers

A lot depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want to shoot trap or skeet or sporting clays/5 stand? Do you want to hunt with it as well?

An autoloader like a remington 1100 is a good all around choice for some of everything.

Interchangeable chokes certainly adds versatility to any gun.

An o/u or sxs can add more versatility in the fact that you can use two different chokes. I'd suggest something like a browning citori or cynergy.

Fit is very important with a shotgun, the very best thing to do, is go to a local club on a day when they normally shoot clays games, and ask for help, and try some guns out. Generally you can get to try all sorts of guns, and get an idea of what fits you well, and what you like the feel and use of, as well as what you can hit with.

Shotguns are something I don't generally suggest someone runs out and buys immediately if they have an opportunity to try out a few first.

If you have something just bring it up or go up and talk to the guys most of them (me included) would be happy to loan u a guy for a few rounds to try.... Would not specifically just go out and buy a gun for sunday
