Not sure what happened to the rotation of the pictures, Sorry.
My Grandson loves going to the cabin and checking traps.
The first picture should be the last, he was running in waist deep snow to show me the Marten, he's 6 years old.

To cool! I can remember great times on the trapline with my grandad as a kid, the older I get, the more I think about them. Keep up the great work!!

Who would of thought you could trap lobster in Northern Alberta lol...

Great trappers shack looks like a great place.

That was nice to see the little guy there, brings back memories. Years ago my 2 boys (10 ish) would go with me up to our camp near North Bay in the winter. (The cabin is a bit more rustic than yours but still nice)
I asked them if they thought we should get a generator and they asked what we needed a generator for. I said “electricity, to run stuff like your games”. They both looked at me & said they did NOT want a generator, they liked it as is. (Nice). Later they wanted to practice throwing knives, so I gave them a Swiss Army and awhile later they retuned and said sorry, they broke the side plate off. I said it didn’t matter, I can glue it back on. I never did glue it but keep it in a box as a great memory of a nice time out.

Here are a couple more pics from the trapline3 cabin.jpgmarten 22.jpg

Thanks reb. Keep them coming.

When I was bear hunting last spring I came across a box on a tree and asked my buddy what it was. Being from SW Ontario I’ve seen a few “bat boxes” and it sort of looked like one of those but this was in the middle of no-where; around these parts bat boxes are generally placed in backyards because the bats help with the bugs. My buddy said, “that’s a marten box, don’t put your hand in it”. I didn’t need to be told not to put my hand in it - the prospect of bats, or a marten, or a trap inside was enough. But I had to chuckle knowing he was telling me because you just never know what some dummy from SW Ontario might decide to do. It was empty anyhow :)

Boxes are great for a number of fur bearers as they position the trap for quick humane catches. As you see in the picture the Marten was killed instantly, didn't even fall off the tree.

Great pictures, it’s nice to see that not everyone has given up on trapping. It’s something you have to have a love for doing.

I hunt a friends grazing lease regularly, always spot those boxes in my travels and know what they are. :) A well placed trap kills them instantly.
