With all the coyotes running around was thinking they maybe need to be thinned out a little. Can I trap coyotes on private property with my small game license in Ontario? I’m in a WMU with no restrictions on hunting the coyotes. Thanks.
Got more than 3 acres and are they a nuisance, just looking for an excuse to get out more than anything. Do you know of any trappers courses going on your way? Not much luck around here, fur managers seem disorganised, called 3 times and none of numbers they gave me for instructors worked out.
I know around here its run through Fleming College. The same instructor does courses out of his house and has an amazing trap line. I can get the guys number. There should be something up your way.
"...trap coyotes on private property with my small game license in Ontario?..." No. As mentioned, you need the trapper's licence. There are seasons and likely municipal by-laws too. You need a special permit to possess any hides out of season as well.
Your trappers license allows you to posses the hides. To sell them you need to buy a different permit. Most of the pelts go through ThunderBay but you can sell it privately with another permit. They dont cost much. I think last year it cost me 16.50 for the permit to sell nuisance pelts I had acquired.
Every pelt you get goes on your license and you turn in your license every year.
