Tree stand missing in action

I have one on some private property and I am always waiting for it to disapear. Hasen't yet though....however I haven't been out there to check this year yet.

If only man-traps were legal!! :D

My climber has been in the same tree 9 years now. There are very few places for trespassers to park around my farm and we are a ways from town.

people leave a $200+ piece of portable equipment clearly visible on a tree, and are 'shocked' when it gets stolen?
sorry to say but its not just 'these times' or 'this province' - if you did that anywhere on earth in any time in history that sh*ts going to get stolen sooner or later. there is no magical place on earth where this isnt going to happen.

game cams need to be well hidden. if your particular model isnt well camoflauged then camo it yourself with krylon and natural materials.
portable tree stands: well, theyre portable for a reason. if youre too lazy to pack them out with you then dont be surprised if someone else isnt.

dont get me wrong: i do sympathize with people losing their gear - but reading countless threads like this where people are so "shocked" that this happened to them makes me wonder just what world theyve been living in? welcome to reality folks.

My Grandmother used to chase hunters out with a 12ga if they didnt ask she did it for 80 years every single year a hunter would wander in say its crown land (after jumping a fence) and she would send them on there way. She had to doudge bullets more then once on her own land because people were poaching on her land. Once she started bring the shotgun with her it stopped. Small group of people always ruin for the rest just the way it is.

She had problems with people stealing chickens gas anything that wasn't nailed down (they even steal the nails) iT was a remote farm so most people figure they can get away with it.. She even had the theives shoot her dog because it would chase them out for stealing gas. They shot to the dog towards the house and almost shot my Grandmother. They ended up getting caught and judged by farmers they said guilty before they even sat down :p 3 months in jail for shooting a dog towards a house with people inside it and almost hitting the people inside as they had to take cover. Thats when she started walking around with a shotgun loaded with rock salt.

I had a cuddiebacktrail camera stolen last year during the controlled deer hunt in Fergus, Ontario.
There were so many tresspasser's on one property that we do not hunt the controlled hunt there only the bow hunt as well last year went to set up a tree stand and some one had planted marajuana.

i'm sorry to say that in most parts of canada the rock salt days are over. your going to do just as much time for giving someone a sore a** as the guy that just shot with other intentions.

There is no justification for stealing anything that's not yours !!!!! .....

Excuse me I'm in law enforcement . I understand people steal things....but do I expect that someone leave my stuff alone...heck yeah.....what about the stuff in my house should I expect it to be stolen when the door is locked ....but because they can see it they're going take it....Lazy? call it what you will .....but to expect someone to leave stuff alone that they can't see from the road isn't unreasonable...they have had to do some scouting ( aka...trespassing) a few times to find it since it's on private land ...I'm done

its not 'justification' of theft. its simply an appeal for people to have some common sense. as long as human beings exist on this earth so will theft (and worse). if you leave a $200 piece of gear hanging visibly in a tree in the middle of nowhere dont be 'shocked' when it disappears.

I tend to agree. I would hope that there is honour among hunters, but would never EXPECT it.

Is there such a thing as a trail cam with a GPS tag in it so you can follow it when someone steals it?
