Tremor

Hey,

Are the Tremors almost ready? I keep hearing from the retailer that they will arrive this week, for the last three months.

Hi

Thanks for reaching to me.

As any rifle maker on the planet production delays can occur sometimes. We currently have over 200 rifles of mixed calibers in the pipeline to produce and we are doing our best to ship them ASAP but there's one thing that we won't compromise and it's quality. Instead of dropping the quality we just ordered another 4 CNC machines that will add up to our line up. The demand is very high and we started the year with 2-3 months lead time but now new orders re given 3 to 5 months lead time. Considering that an order for AI is around 6 to 8 months, a McMillan more than a year and that it's similar for pretty much any rifle maker from Browning, to Remington, Savage, Beretta, Sako, etc I think that we are still among the fastest quality gun makers worldwide.

A certainly understand that you are looking forward to shoot this baby but you must understand that production process is not something that is easy to control. We deal with lots of variables from availability of the raw material, barrel blank shipments, equipment breakdown, etc. Still instead of doing like most of the Canadian distributors and NOT PROVIDE ANY ETA (pretty much "your gun will arrive the day that the transporter will show up at your door" type of answer) we are doing our best to estimate the lead time. Production time is definitely not a science believe me.

I thank you a lot for your business. All I can tell you is that you will be amazed by your purchase once you have it in hand and will be happy that you waited. Keep in mind that this rifle is a production rifle with custom build care and attention to detail.

Thanks a lot for your patience and if you need more assistance please contact me at the office using my email or cell phone patrice@cadexinc.com or 514-821-7983

Best regards

I believe it has been 7 months since my order and it's still a few weeks away I'm sure if not more military and Leo get there order first even if they order after because there more important I guess I'm defently not happy I was told 6 months max but would be closer to 3 what a joke that is

I have one on order as well, but I'm fine with the wait.

I've ordereded custom rifles from other manufacturers (very reputable rifle builders) before and I understand there could be issues on an ETA, some variables just can't be controlled. I was told 3 months on a rifle, and it was delivered 8 months later, but I was fine with it because they had a reputation for having an excellent product and I knew that it would eventually come. Waiting sucks, there's no doubt, but I knew it would eventually be delivered.

I would rather be delayed and have the manufacture work out any bugs or issues than be delivered a sub-standard rifle.

It's like a flight being delayed for mechanical issues. Wouldn't you rather have them sort it out on the ground first rather than rush to meet a departure time only to find out they probably shouldn't have taken off in the first place?

Cadex has always had a reputation for manufacturing excellent products, and I know they will make good on the Tremor. I am looking forward to receiving mine, I know it will be as awesome as Patrice says it will be, and if Cadex is not ready to ship, so be it. I know that when I do receive it, I will be happy.

This is a strong statement and I can understand that you may wrongly think that the civilian market in not our priority. You may be surprised to know that LE market do not use much 50BMG so this haven't added any delay to your order for sure. In fact 15 minutes ago I sold some 338 Lapua to some ERT unit and they have been told 3 to 5 months delivery time as usual. They complained about the wait but I told them just the same thing, I can't make miracles, everybody want their new toy and I can understand that. We do our best to speed up the production time and I'll be more than happy to call you one morning to let you know this new toy is ready to ship.

For sure if a Canadian Military group request some rifles urgently because they need to deploy in a hot zone YES I will personally recommend to the production manager to prioritize this order as we care for our boys. When lives depends on these guns you can be sure that I will prioritize them. That being said, since the beginning of the production of the TREMOR, I didn't have to make any order jump in the queue for such a reason so again it's not a reason for this delay. My Poland distributor is calling me every 2 weeks to ask me about the status on his 50BMG order for the Polish Special OPS and I always remind him that he must remain patient and he'll get it before the end of this year as promised when he ordered. Again no favoritism here.

I also have a customer with cancer and believe me I would sacrifice any order so that he could shoot his rifle and put a smile on his face, but he remains calm and patiently wait even if he dreams about this gun more than anybody. He calls me once a while letting me know if I think that he'll get his rifle in time prior to his next chemotherapy treatment... I wish I could speed up the whole thing but there's only so much I can do to remain fair to all our customers. He understands that.

Believe me if I could do better I would but I can't... It's simply takes longer than originally expected to produce these 50BMG, but they are the real deal and once you have it in your hand you will understand why you waited that long.

This rifle has been pushed up to 2300 meters so far with amazing results. There's not a doubt in my mind that this is the best 50BMG rifle on the market and we just need couple weeks more to prove it to you.

Thanks for your patience Sir.

Respectfully,

Patrice

I too have been waiting patiently but I'm not getting my nickers in a knot. From what I understand my build is waiting for a barrel, which is supplied from the states. No barrel, no rifle. It is what it is and it is out of Cadex's hands. In the meantime, I'm not really out any money and I have other toys to play with.

Patrice, this is getting to sound like an ATRS thread, huh? ;-)

I'm sorry I don't spend much time on CGN and I look only threads that concerns Cadex so I don't understand what you are referring to, maybe you can PM me if this concerns Cadex.

If it concerns ATRS as far as I'm concerned that are a proactive Cadex dealer and as any gun maker I'm sure they deal with their share of unexpected production delays (if this is about that).

You must have a 260 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor or 408 CT on order then. I heard last week that the blanks order was almost completed so it should be sent to us shortly and then we'll continue the building process.

Thanks for your patience.

Patrice, I was referring to the amount of people who "mention" (read: complain) that the wait times are excruciating.

And yes, it seems manufacturers are at the mercy of all sorts of things out of their control.

I wasn't complaining about the wait. I waited 7 months for my Modern Hunter, I didn't care, never even asked ATRS about it. There are other reasons why (not money, I paid for mine in full with cash) I was interested how the Tremors are progressing.

I can understand people to want their toy as fast as possible. It would turn me nuts to have to wait couple months for something so I respect the people making that choice as I don't have that kind of hold on me.

It's the sad price to pay to get something tailor made. If we were to offer only 3 or 4 different configurations we would be able to build some inventory but since you can customize the bold knob style, the color of the chassis, the color of the action, the style of trigger, the MOA incline, the magazine style, barrel length, etc this becomes "custom built as per request" and it requires time.

Thanks again for your wait and have a wonderful weekend.

Mine arrived yesterday, thanks Patrice! I took some photos last night, but they are too crappy to post here so I'll try to take some better pictures soon.

All I can say for now is Holy ****, nice rifle. What a monster. I can't wait to find some time to take her out and shoot it.

Pics to follow as soon as I find some time.

Nice! I can't wait to see pics. I can't wait to get mine. :(

Get mine few weeks ago already thru a few boxes shoots great no recoil at all which is nice hopefully will get to shoot some distance soon only at a few hundred yards so far it was worth the wait

I know a lot of us have been waiting for this beast since its announcement last year and for some of us, the day of reckoning has finally arrived. Now, this is not a review of any sort, just an unboxing, general observations and a quick photo shoot. It will probably be sometime before I find some time to take this monster out to shoot.

When this thing arrived, I was at work and my wife signed it. To say the least, my wife was not very impressed. It was one of the heaviest, biggest boxes that have been delivered to my house with my name on it, and from her experience, if it's heavy, if it's big, it's probably expensive.

The rifle was delivered in a reinforced cardboard box. As I understand it, Cadex is currently working with various manufacturers for an ideal rifle case for this monster.

https://1.bp.########.com/-OjNigP7rwXk/WAgaxUYXNiI/AAAAAAAAkW8/RwQh_raOXVADsP_E8G2GKEzZLaCf8lzGQCPcB/s1600/DSCN7273.JPG

The rifle came with a very nice drag bag, with lots of pockets, reinforced stitching, and loads of straps and some pretty heavy duty zippers. It felt really durable compared to a lot of the soft cases I already have, but I really don't have a lot of experience with quality drag bags like these.

https://4.bp.########.com/-DgC7za9ZaAk/WAgaxQfneCI/AAAAAAAAkW8/RyugH8pb8ng060zKNhRGM1IBDAGKzHl4wCPcB/s320/DSCN7274.JPG

The first thing I did was open all the pockets to see what sort of storage space was available. The large square pocket looks like it’s good for a large size data/log book or binder. In it was the manual, a few stickers, what looked like a 50BMG-size thread protector and a set of allen keys (presumably for all the screws in the chassis).

https://4.bp.########.com/-QLkC-kYqo5Q/WAgaxXGXM9I/AAAAAAAAkW8/P3B4S1TleUEkuh85IAQZOpB6XlW6-3VHwCPcB/s1600/DSCN7276.JPG

On the back of the manual was the armourer's signature attesting that the trigger was set at 2lbs 5 oz.

https://2.bp.########.com/-8DwU6U54JGQ/WAgaxY8LIAI/AAAAAAAAkW8/8O370sIMQQYmHFllKm8ASsdFKP_3aYuZQCPcB/s1600/DSCN7277.JPG

The next set of pockets were two long ones on the side of the bag. I was really hoping that Cadex would have mixed up the shipping contract and accidentally left me something no-no from one of their military contracts, but that was not to be. In one of the pockets was the massive bolt for the rifle, the other pocket was empty but clearly designed to house the monster can that Cadex designed for this rifle.

https://2.bp.########.com/-ZhDhMWQE1_4/WAgaxRgYi9I/AAAAAAAAkW8/sPM8t3WM-QEEC1ltwd8mZDksF8ax7c7hQCPcB/s1600/DSCN7278.JPG

Both the bolt and the rifle were protected in foam inside the rifle case. A thin added bit of protection for the rifle, but I assume also to protect the bag from any manufacturing oils or grease.

https://1.bp.########.com/-zY1ETV9kOQI/WAgaxXCvQ2I/AAAAAAAAkW8/-1vYMrpvZd0fowA5zBN5Gkj7PErYrCeUwCPcB/s1600/DSCN7279.JPG

The rifle was shipped with one of those monster 50bmg magazines as big as a hardcover book. Thinking about it now, that rifle was shipped with the butt stock in the open position, meaning that has got to be one of the biggest drag bags in production.

https://4.bp.########.com/-m6aI-TMvLMU/WAgaxT9KunI/AAAAAAAAkW8/5lg6IqM93gI9xoxDqsoeM-WJLB3E2OA6wCPcB/s1600/DSCN7282.JPG

On first glance, it appears to be the newest 50bmg chassis system from Cadex. I might be wrong, but it might be unique to the Cadex CDX-50 Tremor and not available for other 50bmg rifle builds? The hand guard is definitely different than the previous generation, possibly slightly shorter, and the top vent holes have been sealed up, presumably to reduce heat mirage from the hot barrel. The top rail is a slightly different design, and same with the main body. The folding stock system appears to be the same as the previous generation.

https://4.bp.########.com/-m3vpzwX-i7A/WAgaxQhpfqI/AAAAAAAAkW8/yNezXHTE2SYAIIYP3V1RYV3XsHlJXLlqgCPcB/s1600/DSCN7284.JPG

All the essentials out of the bag.

So, this bolt.....wow, this bolt is just ginormous. I'm fairly certain you could beat somebody to death with it. It is a nice looking design (I haven't taken it apart yet, but I've heard it's not hard at all) and the fit and finish is hard to fault. I also love the aggressive spiral fluting on it.

https://4.bp.########.com/-IVbe3FAKUg8/WAgaxUxbVKI/AAAAAAAAkW8/C86LlOFKzKEOrHr06vhS8_PoHrlU1sL9gCPcB/s1600/DSCN7288.JPG

Four locking lugs to ensure it goes nowhere, and also permits a very, very short throw.

I couldn't find a set of googly eyes to put on the head of the snake, and that's what a lot of people have compared it to. It does have a strong resemblance to the head of a cobra snake, so it's a pretty cool looking brake.

On closer inspection though, it appears to be a well thought out design. There are three main side ports, and the lead bottom edge of the front port is curved and extends slightly out past the rest of the brake. I would guess as the hot gas comes out, it would act almost like a spoiler, with a downward pushing effect, eliminating the need for any top ports? Anyway, I've heard that Cadex's muzzle brake reduces a lot of the felt recoil from their other lines, so this will probably be no different.

The action has got to be one of the nicest ones I've seen. It's very angular compared to the typical tubular designs that I'm used. It would have been nice to see the bottom of the action, but my guess was since it's Cadex's own design and taylor-made for their chassis system, there is no need for roller bedding or traditional glass bedding. A rep from Cadex did confirm that their rifles are all v-bedded where previous incarnations of the chassis (that PGW used) were roller-bedded.

On a side noe, I believe that PGW also used some sort of bedding material on top of the roller bed (a thin later of bedding material can be seen between the action and the chassis).

Cadex CDX-50 is milled near the top, and TREMOR engraved near the top, MFG Cadex Inc Canada at the bottom. I almost wanted to stand up and sing "Oh Canada" when I saw that, lol!

Ok, so the weather's been pretty crummy the last week or so, and last night was the first clear day we've had, but by the time I got home, the sun was already mostly out of sight and I was only able to snap a few quick photos. I'll have to get the Tremor out to Squamish or Merritt one of these days instead of snapping a couple of shots in my back yard or laundry room, lol!

I pulled the scope and bipod off one of my other rifles just for photos. Actually, the Steiner will probably stay but I'll lose the wrap.

I'm not sure what MOA the top rail is canted, and haven't read the manual yet, but if it's like their previous 50bmg chassis systems, it's probably a 40moa rail.

Cadex's unique folding stock, fully adjustable without tools. I know, some of you are probably thinking how hard would it be to pack a couple of extra tools in your range bag, but if you're anything like me, there will be a time when you forgot to back them. It's definitely a nice feature to have that tool-less adjustability. The recoil pad is nice and soft where it needs to be, and the folding mechanism Cadex designed is rock solid, with no wiggle whatsoever. When folded, it locks in the folded position and folds right on top of the bolt handle so it does not take up additional space.

The safety is built right into the bolt. I've seen this design on some other rifles, but it is definitely new to me.

Anyway, that's the end of the photo shoot, can't wait to take this thing out to hammer some steel.

Special thanks to Patrice Picard from Cadex in getting this to me. Cadex really came through in turning dreams into reality.

Wow that's one nice piece of hardware ..... Hopefully someday for me .... LOL

Would love to join you one day on one of your shoots, but my puny .308 CADEX will look like a midget chihuahua compared to that beast! .... hahahaha :)

The rifle came with a very nice drag bag, with lots of pockets, reinforced stitching, and loads of straps and some pretty heavy duty zippers. It felt really durable compared to a lot of the soft cases I already have, but I really don't have a lot of experience with quality drag bags like these.

On the back of the manual was the armourer's signature attesting that the trigger was set at 2lbs 5 oz.

Both the bolt and the rifle were protected in foam inside the rifle case. A thin added bit of protection for the rifle, but I assume also to protect the bag from any manufacturing oils or grease.

The rifle was shipped with one of those monster 50bmg magazines as big as a hardcover book. Thinking about it now, that rifle was shipped with the butt stock in the open position, meaning that has got to be one of the biggest drag bags in production.

It would have been nice to see the bottom of the action, but my guess is since it's Cadex's own design and taylor-made for their chassis system, there is no need for roller bedding or traditional glass bedding.
