TRG-22 in 308.- Which scope and why?

Just purchased a new TRG and want to put a quality scope on it with a 30mm tube with keeping the budget in mind. I want a minimum 15x scope preferably 20x with target turrets, which and why should I purchase. Also what is a zero stop. Thanks for your reply

there is a Nikon in the EE right now that would work. Buying new? Bushnell 6500 is good if on a budget. Check out Talley tactical rings, see if they make one that fits directly on to the 11mm rail, then you can skip the extra step of having to mount a rail then rings or having to buy the tactical mount Sako sells for $500. Mine wears a 3.5-15 NF nxs in a Sako tactical unimount, not cheap but perfect for the rifle.
 
Truley that rifle deserves an S&B or Night Force. Although if you can't afford that any thing less than a Leoplud Mark 4 would be :kickInTheNuts: to this beauty of a rifle.
 
Congrat. on a great rifle!

I put this on mine:

Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M1 Front Focal.
With the tactical milling reticule.
I just LOVE my TRG!

Why: I have shot up to 1000 yards with 10x, it's quite enough (need a good spotter though!). And the TMR reticule is good for evaluating distances since it has more subdivisions than the regular mil-dot. Front focal allows you to mill at any magnification. I have had only great experiences with Leupold, including a reticule change on another scope that went smoothly.

I run a schmidt and bender on my PGW coyote. I Saved for several months after buying the rifle to buy this scope and it was worth it. IMO Dont waste your money on anything less then the best.
 
after you shoot with S&B for Glass, you won't go back to Other brand, that the fact.
This is a Rem700SA, ok for now, but I do have a TRG22 308 on mysight, from Shooting EDGE.

IMHO, on a rifle like the TRG 22, definitely something good. S&B, Nightforce, Kahles, maybe a high end Zeiss or Leupold. Basically, if it's less than $1500, don't even consider it.
 
On the Other hand the hensoldt is another nice Option. Very Clear Optic, You can see out Beyond a Mile Crystal clear.

Still believe that Ziess is good for hunting rig's and NF plus S&B should be for long range rig's like this. Although I never got a chance to see this Hensoldt Ziess scope in person. Do you have any like's to were some one could get more info on this scope?
 
As others have pointed out, you don't put money into a gun like a TRG and then "go budget" on the optics. It's counterproductive.

You are better served by saving up and investing in a quality piece of glass that you will keep and use longer-term, which will allow you to realize the potential of your rifle.

The lowest rung you should consider is a Leupold Mark IV.

However ultimately, you will find that for that class of rifle the most recommended options will be Nightforce or S&B.
 
On my TRG 22 I initially put on a Bushnell Elite 6500 until I was able to upgrade. The rifle now wears a NF NXS 8x32x56 which is an awesome scope (MLR reticle). The Elite 6500 now sits on my Kimber Tactical.
