TRG 42 Setup

So I now have my new TRG 42 in .338 Lapua setup the way I want.

S&B 5-25x56 P4F
Near 25 MOA Base
Near 34mm Alphamount
Roedale Brake
Sako Bipod
Sako spacers on butt and cheekpiece


My handload:

250 gr. Scenar
94 gr. RL25
Fed 215M
Lapua Brass
3.650" OAL
2970 fps Avg.

Here's a couple of pics.

I love this rifle! Now I have the TRG42 in .338 Lapua and a TRG22 in .308, both with S&B 5-25x56 scopes. Both rifles are very accurate and exactly what I want.

I love my Sako TRG's. I would'nt trade them for anything. I think at this price point they can't be beat for quality and value.

After talking to Richard I was sold on his base and Alphamount. Near makes very nice stuff.

I have the original Sako Tactical mount and CANT say its better than the NEAR that near is nice stuff.

I have the Sako tactical mount on my TRG22 and it works just fine.

Wow, just wow. That is outstanding.

It works really well. Recoil feels like a 30.06 in a medium weight barrel, my load is getting 2970 fps with a 250 gr. Scenar.

Is the alphamount in 20 MOA? Looks like you have a lot of scope clearance. That way you will have 45MOA plus what the scope is.

The Alphamount is 0 MOA, the base is 25 MOA. With that and the available elevation on the S&B I can get to 1700 meters. I don't see the need for a 45 MOA mount.

Can we have pics of the both rifles together please and hows the accuracy on these beauties. Not that I have enough expendable income to contemplate the purchase of one or the other.

I don't have pics of my TRG 22, it looks the same only a couple of inches shorter. As far as accuracy goes I can only comment on the .308 as I hav'nt gotten out yet for distance with the .338. My TRG 22 at 940 yards put 5 out of 5 shots on a rock roughly half the size of a motorcycle helmet. I'm hoping to take it's new bigger brother out soon to see what it will do.

Have you tried the 300gr Sierra's? I get my best groups with these and 93gr of H1000

By the way, who makes a good sling for the TRG42's?
