Trg scope base & fit??

Trying to confirm some things.
First, is there no difference between a TRG 22 & 42 scope mount surface?
I was looking at the Sako web site and they have the same replacement part number for the receiver for a 22 and a 42.
Same sizer ejection port?
I am looking at the weaver type / picatinny rail scope mounts to go onto a 22.
Looking for an inexpensive base to get me buy for the moment.
I see TRG 21 and 41 mounts on the market.
Can they be used?

Next is fit ( me to the rifle )
I am the average guy when it comes to rifle fit.
A BDL Remington 700 with medium height rings, 1" tube scope fits me like a glove.
So, to those out there like me, who own TRG's how do you find the fit WITHOUT any adjustment to the height of the cheek piece?
I want to put a strap on shell holder on this gun, but it has a bit of foam padding in it that raises my cheek / scope alignment.
It's just enough of a difference that I can't use it on the my Remington police. Too high.
I want to keep the scope as low as I can because that's the way I like it.
If I can't use the shell holder, so be it.
Any advice on this matter would be great.
I don't have the gun in my my hands yet so I can't do much in the way of measurements.

Buy once and cry once. If you get a cheap base to get you by for the moment you will end up paying more in the long run. NEAR Mfg makes the best base, much better than the factory for the 22/42 in my opinion and Richards customer svc is outstanding.
 
Haha, i have to disagree with you to a point. When I bought my Sightron scope for my TRG22, the only rings I had were these $10 china specials. Guess what, they work great and my scope holds zero. If the rings didn't work out, I would have gotten the near mount. That thing is pretty sweet and made in Canada too.
 
I have a TRG 22 with a Spuhr mount for a 34mm tube and a 1.38" (35mm) medium height (it's the lowest they sell for a 34mm tube). I like the Spuhr because there is one solid piece between the rifle and the scope, I think that helps for accuracy and repeatability.

I have a 10mm cheek spacer, I'm still trying to figure out if I like it or not. For prone position I HATE the spacer, for bench I can make the spacer work but I have to slide the cheek rest all the way over to the right. Maybe I need more time with it though.... a friend of mine loves the the 10mm cheek spacer. I think it's personal preference and depends on how predominant your cheek bones are.

Great choices for mounts but I don't want to wait til next year to shoot the gun.
Already scraped the bottom of the barrel to buy the gun..
I have a Leupold 6.5 - 20 x 40, 1" tube to put on for now.
I know that I will end up with a 30mm tube latter.
There fore my theory, buy a one piece base now with a decent set of rings.
Latter I will upgrade to a better scope with rings.
I have no need for a quick detachable mounting system.
Warne makes a one piece base as mentioned in the wright up in Accurate shooter.
I think that is the route I am going to go.
I am just trying to figure out what height of ring I will need.

I should have specified that I would be using a 1" tube for now. (not the common choice for folks with this gun I guess)

Why do you need a base? you can get sako rings that attach to the top of the receiver, they are an odd size, for about $100 you should be able to use rings. they work fine on many other rifles, not sure why they wouldn't work on a your sako TRG. in fact I used LYNX sako rings on mine, they cost $40 worked as well as the sako unimount I used on my second TRG.
 
NEAR all the way!!!. i have one on my trg 42. I am also a machinist technicican and i can tell you that the alphamount is as good as any on earth!
