Possibly a dumb question, but what was the triad rail issued with rail covers? I can't see it being a good place to place your support hand to grip the rifle so why bother with rail covers?

Just something I was wondering about. Can anybody shed some light on the rational?

Like Boltgun said, it's to protect them. Since they are at the front of your rifle it's really easy to hit them on stuff and bur or break the hell out of the rails.

Dumb question is why they issued them? Theyre useless and I find it funny people run out and grab triads to complete the look of the accessory nobody likes. Dont forget not to loose your accu wedge.

Never liked the Triad at all. A RAS would have been the perfect solution for both C7-8... The triad is cumbersome and makes the rifle front heavy all by itself and way too slow when any accessories are mounted.
