First time load development with RE 22 and Nosler 140 Accubonds. Needless to say, pleased with the one great result, will do up some more 45.5g tonight and try her again. And wow, I could get used to the mild recoil again!

I should have mentioned the 125 gr partition as a great bullet in the 6.5. I've killed about 10 deer with a 260 remington(ballistic twin) and all ten have gone maybe 20 feet combined.

Norm,

Good shooting, Interesting how it likes the lighter loads....I really have to spend more time shooting mine....should see the recoil from 85 gr. Bullets !!!

I've heard guys have had good results with H4831 and re19. I am no expert, but I haven't heard much about re22 with the swede.

I always used re22 for the swedes I owned because of how I thought it was the powder of choice for the cartridge/bullet weight......comparable to 270 win./130 bullets - H4831 . MRP would be about the same...I had read that it closely matches the orginal 139 grain military ammuntion loading very closely . In any case H4831 would be pretty close and I would use it in this situation if I couldnt' get re-22 anymore.

5 shot grouping of 1.1" this morning so I figure some of you guys can get it under an inch being much better shots! Average 5 shot chrony reading of 2500fps and I don't know what Nosler uses because I have never been able to go anywhere near their velocity.

May try another powder, as was suggested, to see if I can get a little more speed and still a moa grouping. The 140g will be the bullet of choice for me.

That's a nice group for 5 rounds! Nice shooting, I thought you would be higher in FPS?? was that with 45.5 of R22? and what 22 inch barrel?

Here is the link to the Hogdon site, they sell Hogdon, IMR and Winchester Powders. It would appear the IMR's seem to generate the highest velocity, you should be able to get to 2600 plus. In my experience, if you are getting to the max loads in the books and you are not near the velocities when you average them over a few different books, I try a bit faster burning powder. Like if my first choice was H4831 and the velocity isn't what I want I try H4350, or reloder 22 then I move to reloder 19.

Try that theory if you like.

45.5g of RE22, and barrel length of Finnlight is 22.5". I'm just wondering if those manuals don't list velocity as exactly at muzzle. My chrony is set up about 6 ft away from muzzle, thoughts on this?

Well I 'm using speer manual #13 it shows
140gr bullet
- IMR 4350 starting 40gr= 2338fps
max 44.0gr= 2572fps

Hornady Sixth edition
140gr bullet
IMR 4350
starting 36.9gr= 2300fps
Max 41.4= 2600fps

so I was hopeing using 45.5 I would be getting 2700+ fps??
My crony quite working:mad: so I have no idea what I'm getting.
When it was working 6 to 8ft is where I would place it from muzzel.
