Well not really, I bought a 50lb bag of walnut sand blasting media (which might be the same). Anyway I was very impressed. I used to use corn cob bedding that I got from pet stores but it's a little hard to find now. I have a Lyman vibratory cleaner and I used to set a timer for 3hrs and it did a credible job. But I kept checking the walnut stuff as it was working and it cleaned everything in half the time. It actually did a much better job and I didn't have to pick corn cob pieces out the 9mm cases which is a pain. So overall if your looking for a good media at a reasonable cost (I paid $30 I think) then try this stuff. TC

Might be time to retire the 'ol steel wool/Tylenol method and buy a tumbler. What's a decent one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? They seem overpriced for what they are...

I bought a Cabela's tumbler about 10 years ago. works well and still going strong. I use Lizard Litter (walnut shells) that I bought at the local pet store. a squirt of Lyman Turbo Brite every once in a while renews the polishing action. I bought a 15 lb bag and still have 10 lb waiting to be used. It lasts a long, long time

It's what I tumble with. Works like a charm.

I throw a piece of dryer softener sheet in there to keep the dust down when separating the brass and media too.

That's a good idea. It's the only complaint I would have, it's dusty. I wear a dust mask now.

The walnut shell can even be cleaned, and used again. I've cleaned one load twice and it still works. Yes, I am CHEAP.

Great, how do you clean it?

Course walnut is fine for straight wall cases but a pain when cleaning 264 Win Mag., etc.
I have an old model of this one: Thumler Rock And Brass Tumbler AR-6.
It has been in service now for over 30 years and is pieced together with a bolt, saw blade, nuts and washers.
Thank you for reminding me to use some dryer sheets. They are in the shed as someone in the household says they stink . . .
