I recently bought a Glock 23 (40cal) and loaded up an ammo survey to see what bullet and powder charge it would like. I also recently picked up 16 pounds of Ramshot Competition powder to try. This is a fast powder, similar in speed to Red Dot.
I decided to try 3 different bullets. A cast lead 155SWC, a lead 180 Flat Point and a 180RN Plated, made by Calibre. Each bullet was laoded with 3.3, 3.6, and 3.9 gr of powder.
Tonight I shot half the test. I will finish tomorrow night.
My competition pistol has been a MP40, so I will try these loads in the MP40 and the Glock.
Until tonight, I had hardly ever shot plated bullets. Turns out my MP40 likes them with 3.3 gr of Ram Competition (790 fps). Mild and accurate.
