There is a kit for them. Nickorette used to have them, but like many other useful members of this site he has been banned.
I can't remember what all was involved as I put mine in years ago and have since sold the rifle. Mostly springs and shims I think, made a huge difference and was a fairly easy install.
I think he is over at the "other" site, but I don't know how active he is.
Not really. It is not like the AR, it is meant to do what it does. I had a sniper model for a while, and it had one of the nicest 2 stage triggers I've used on it, so it is possible to find a replacement, but chances are you will spend about what an AR will cost.
The trigger problem is really all in your mind. They are repeatable triggers, and that is a good portion of what you want. For example, this is a pretty typical 10 shot 500m target off a mag. It is from a local service rifle match, and wasn't the best shot there that day or anything, just a pic I took while scoring targets.
Well, that it not what I meant. What I am trying to say is that the sig trigger is a good trigger, and while you can chase it all you want, and I am usually the first to tell people to spend as much as they want and change as much as they want, I don't think this is a place that you need to. If you want a really good trigger for it, find one from a sniper model. I see them for sale from time to time.
You've got to be kidding? We actually have a new Sig Sauer 556 for testing right now. I can tell you first hand that the trigger is crap compared to all the SG552's and SG551's that we have in Service. That also goes for all the other 556's that I've tried and fired so I don't know what "Special 556" you have come across? And that 's not just my opinion but shared by everyone of the dozen's of others that have tried them side by side.
Well I've had one SA trigger and one Sig trigger (both came used) The Sig is better, maybe I'm the only one maybe not just one opinion. That said they are both nice triggers.
I will say being a lefty I hands down preferred the Sig lower with AR stock over the factory SA unit except for the mag release which could benefit from and ambi lever.
'Nickorette' got the trigger kits from a fella in Germany by the name of M. Kreuz. PM me for his email.
Last I checked they bring the trigger down to around 3 lbs - too low for SR, so I never bought a kit from him.
I personally think the OEM Sig trigger is as good as any top quality AR match trigger - and I have the RRA 2 stage, Knight's Armament Match, and Geisselle SR match triggers...
I'm a lefty and find the only AR platfrom that comes even close to ambi manipulation of the Sig 55x platform is the Knight's SR15E3.
I've been on the AR platform for well over 20 years (12 military and 10+ in competition)
