I have a sporterized VZ24 in 8x57 that I use for hunting. I'm looking to upgrade the trigger from the present military two stage. Any suggestions?

Or should I just leave it alone. It currently shoots a 5/8" group at 100 metres with 150gr. Hornady over 52.5 gr. IMR 4350.

Thanks.

I would leave how it is. When your taking a shot and your taking your time, the 2 stage trigger works pretty good.

Ex. Taking a further shot and you want Precision. It makes you feel more relaxed.

Timney triggers - can't remember which one fits the VZ, there are three different models for Mauser rifles. Cabela's carries them for around $60.00. They had them in stock in Edmonton last time I was there.

Groups like THAT and you wanta change the trigger?

Friend of mine had all kinds of military rifles, changed a lot of triggers over to Timneys. Not hard, just mostly money. He liked them. To me, the military trigger is just fine, especially if you want a deliberate shot. If it's a bit creepy or rough, you can stone it a bit, but don't go too far. To lighten the military trigger you can change out the return spring for a lighter one; again, don't go too far.

Either way it's a hundred bucks cheaper than a single-stage replacement...... and you still have the satisfaction of shooting your true milsurp.
