Bought a No. 5 Mk.1 this summer. Haven't shot it a whole lot yet since I plan to do a Scout build on it. It has a beautifully crisp 2 stage trigger on it almost all the time.....until it doesn't. Every once in a while I get this awful spongy trigger with a country mile of creep. I just work the action a few times and eventually it goes away. I don't know what causes it and I don't know what fixes it. Anyone else have this problem with Enfields? AFAIK all LE triggers are the same. Any help on how to make it go away and not come back?

Take the stock off, and then reassemble the action, trigger guard, bolt without the stock. But, do install the metal bushing that's in the stock between the trigger guard and the receiver. That way, you'll be able to see exactly what happens to the metal parts when you move the bolt and press the trigger.
If all is fine, as Mr Timbers suggests, the forend is at cause and will need adjustment.

The bushing Lou mentions is in there right? Lots of LE's are missing this important part. Make sure the forend isn't crushed.
