trigger job on rem 700????

Is there anyone in london ontario area that does a good job on tuneing a trigger on a remington 700 sps tactical? I love the gun but do find the trigger to be quite heavy. I am setting it up to be a long range shooter.

They don't always adjust to a crisp clean light pull... often the sears need a bit of work. If you can't make it crisp, lighter and safe...

I do a lot.. $50 includes the $10 return mailing charge. All I need is the trigger group... Crisp and 2.25 to 2.5 pounds...
 
The internet is your friend.. you can find the instructions online, just make sure you fully test the safety/sear after (while holding the trigger and slamming the bolt closed..) or no trigger and cycling the bolt very crisply. I did this to both my 30-06 and 22-250. they 250 has a 1.5 lb trigger, and it's very nice..

Also it may be a hit of a pain to break the locktight that they put on it.. you may need to heat it up to get it to release (vs possibly stripping the screw head)
 
what kind of after market trigger groups would you guys recomend? jewel?
also is there a place in canada that sells these types of things.
 
I did mine myself, took no time at all. $40 is a little expensive for such an easy job, but I should add that $40 is much better than what my local shop quoted me when I first considered it, IIRC, they say $65 or $70.
 
X2+ on sending it to guntech.
i have the same gun that will be going to see him.it will be for a trigger job,and maybe a action trueing and gillard 1in 10 twist.

Put it this way.. it's around $225 USD. (depending on which rifle you have)..

I know the gunsmiths would do an amazing job, and I've used them for trigger jobs that I have not felt comfortable doing myself.. but the 700 costs $0 to do yourself, just follow the instructions, and make sure you do the tests on it afterwards.
 
well guys I have done it myself and it was really easy. once I had the trigger out I realized it was the new X-mark pro trigger. There is only one screw you have to adjust. In a matter of 2 turns the trigger pull went from 5.6pounds doen to 3.4 pounds. I am going to try it at that for a bit and then go from there.

If your only adjusting the one screw I think you'll find that you are at the bottom of the weight threshold for safe operation with that trigger. You might get it lighter but I doubt it.

every thing seems to be nice and tight and no creep what so ever. saftey still works fine and I slamed the bolt shut a bunch of times and not problems. I then slamed the butt of the gun down a bunch of times and it didn't go off so I think im safe. ( I will be checking it often for the next while) I probally won't try to adjust it lighter. If I want something lighter I will probally just spend the money and get a new trigger. although remington does advertise this trigger is gunsmith adjustable.
 
should I have been adjusting more than one scew? every review I read about this new trigger was not to adjust any other ones.

Agreed, this is the x-mark pro trigger. Not the standard Rem trigger group.
 
mpjustin, you stated "I am going to try it at that for a bit and then go from there", I was just trying to say that if you want it lighter than you have it now I don't think you'll get much more out of it safely.
What you've done so far is great, and you've obviously made sure that its safe.
Sorry about my original post, I wasn't trying to confuse you.
