Just bought my second semi auto pistol a few weeks ago, an XD40. My Ruger .22 accepts my Master trigger locks but my XD doesn't. In fact it came a with cable locking device. Is there a trigger lock out there that fits larger semi autos? The XD doesn't fit well in my case with the slide locked open.

LOck..

Make sure you get a combination lock..When you start having more than 2 firearms, it's a pain carrying keys even if you can get matched sets or a master key cut by a locksmith.

Try repositioning the lock. The lock comes with compressible rubber and those pin tabs for a reason.

If all else fails, buy those less than a buck plastic sandwich locks that use the snake eye screws

The normal trigger lock by Master fits all my revolvers to semi-auto h/guns. Not always the same with with revolvers & semi-autos for each varies a little bit differently but all do a good job. That means I have been using the SAME since back in '74 or even earlier. They are exactly the same as newer ones---no kidding.

Got some pliers?

If you find any of the pins are interfering with the trigger or are going to scratch your trigger guard, peel back the rubber and with a pair of pliers (I used vice grips) remove any that offend. They come out with not too much effort. Also I bought a slightly larger gun rug than I needed for my Kimber 5" 1911 to be able to accomodate the lock and to leave the slide open if needed. Uncle Mikes for a medium revolver works great at about $25.

Let the slide slowly close on the cable. It doesn't need to be left locked open and could get bumped and slam on the cable anyways.

Does the cable not have a rubber plastic lining?

The actual lock could now get in the way however in the case. It's not perfect but it works.

I hate the trigger locks, even for revolvers, I much prefer keyed alike cable locks. Way lower profile in a case, even do 2 guns together with one cable. At 5-6 bucks each I love em!
