trigger lock questions

I have a question for those of you with revolvers. I have recently gotten myself into some top break WWI-WWII revolvers for my military collection and want to have them semi-'displayed' in my gun closet but oly have the larger masterlock trigger locks (Canadian Tire). I want to have them in the period holsters that I have for them but these big locks prevent that. So my question is:

Where can I source a 'lower profile' or smaller trigger lock that will not prevent putting my revolvers into their holsters? Does anyone have a photo of their revolver(s) with such a locking devise?

Oh yea, excellent....I believe that might just do the trick.

But just to clarify that $ would be for 12 locks not each? correct? and a common key for all 12? (sorry that add is a little ambiguous)

Not to harp on the suggestion but I was told that those aren't "legal" gun locks. I'm not sure on the specific reasons why they wouldn't be allowed, it's just something you might want to look at. Just in case you haven't seen them in person the majority of the "lock" is plastic.

Ask why then.

If locks access to the trigger why wouldn't be okay?

If it prevents the trigger from being pulled while it's on, then it's legal as a trigger lock.

Here's what the
FIREARMS ACT:

Storage, Display, Transportation and Handling of Firearms by Individuals Regulations say is a trigger lock aka "secure locking device":

"secure locking device" means a device

(a) that can only be opened or released by the use of an electronic, magnetic or mechanical key or by setting the device in accordance with an alphabetical or numerical combination; and



(b) that, when applied to a firearm, prevents the firearm from being discharged.

Well I just placed an order for some....I assume that they would not market these as "trigger locks" and sell them if they were not legal. I am sure that I have seen the same sort of thing on firearms at gunshows in the past.

Does not matter if it is plastic or not.
Ever body uses them. You can't put a hg in a display
case with a master lock on it- thou for display you Do Not
need a trigger lock if locked in a case at a gun show.
BTW, a plastic zip lock is a legal lock-Thou I don't
know about the st.... sh.. hea.. in Ont

Have you looked at the Visualock.com locks? I've got one for each of my guns. They work great.

Never seen that before. While they don't look all that pretty, they sure do seem to work. Is the key different for each lock or the same?

I suppose you could paint the end a different color if you wanted to. And yeah, the keys are all the same. Very fast to remove in an emergency too.

The little plastic locks are perfectly legal, come in two sizes with two different keys, and are quite a bit cheaper when you buy them by the case. - dan
