Hi guy can any one tell me how to lighten the trigger on the ruger 10/22? Is it just a matter of polishing the seer or the notch in the hammer where the seer engages? thanks RF

You can alter the original hammer (?) notch fairly easily if you are patient and good with following instructions and watch what you are doing. On rimfirecentral there is a description of how to do it using a vice and a drill bit to allow only the right amount of material to be removed at the right angle. It works. There is a description in the sticky's above showing other good 10/22 mods like the auto bolt release and the jb weld trick. You can also buy a valquartson or pc custom hammer for inexpensive and swap it out and get the lighter trigger that way as well.

I tried the stoning of the hammer with a vice. I couldn't get the thing set up correctly like in the how to. I guess it is just the crappy tire vice I got.

However I used my Lansky sharpening kit to stone it by hand. Just go slow and check it often. It will take a while to get the metal off but it can be done easily. I took a stock trigger that was horrible and made it fairly light in the matter of 30 minutes or so. I whacked the hell out of the trigger assembly and it did not fire so all is good.
