Trigger pin on Shadow constantly shifting

Hi all,

I've found that the trigger pin on my Shadow works its way out of the gun rather regularly. Up to this point I've discovered it before its actually fallen out or completely disconnected from the trigger assembly, but I am concerned it will happen during a match. I've tried using blue loctite, sparingly, which does help for a time, but that also tends to gum up the trigger & trigger spring if I am not very, very careful when I put it on. Basically if I goof, I've got to strip the trigger assembly, clean it, and put it back together. If you've done that, you know how frustrating getting the trigger spring back into place can be (without a slave pin).

Anyway, I've also tried staking the pin, but that did not seem to help for very long. I picked up the Shadow new this summer, so it is likely a late 2009-2010 manufacture. Anyway ideas?

Home Depot has some sizes.

The other way is to grind up a punch to a very low angle conical end and use that to rivet the flare back out to retain it. If you did a trigger job on it or pulled out the trigger for some reason that is what you're supposed to do when you put the pin back in. For normal cleaning use a blast of brake cleaner and then oil it for that area and avoid removing the pin. It should only be removed for times where significant work on the trigger is required.

Having done trigger jobs on Shadows, the staking procedure is a real PIA and likely as not to leave marks on the finish. Roll pins are generally available at any large hardware or fastener supply house - all you need is the diameter of the pin AND a rollpin punch of the right size to drive it with.

I use coiled spring pins for many applications. They give me the best retention if fitted to a correct sized hole.

Depending on the size of your pin, I may have some on hand I'd be glad to send to you.

Measure the thickness of your present trigger pin and PM me with it. I'll see if I can accommodate you with the correct size. Measure the length of the pin too.

They look like these:

All you need is Lyman punch set. There is a punch in the set you can use for staking, and I'm still to figure out how to damage finish on the gun :)

Roll pins

What a good idea! My Grand Power K100 has been doing the same thing. Going to measure the pin and get one tomorrow. I always learn something from Gunnutz.

I thought roll pins & spring pins are one and the same. Is there a difference? :confused:

Hard to see in the photo above, "Coiled Spring Pins: are different. They're rolled in a coil fashion;

"Spring Pins" are tubular and open end;

and "Roll Pins" to me, are solid;
