What trigger would you recommend for an informal target rifle. No 3gun use just shooting paper and possibly gongs.

Thanks

Giessele, pretty much any model they made is good to go. They are nice, and most importantly they are problem free and reliable.

I vote for the geissele Super Dynamic Enhanced.
Light weight two stage trigger, flat faced, rugged and reliable, never had recall issues or closed pack design flaws like the trigger techs. It's a no brainer for me, geissele all the way.

Depends on what you prefer. If you like a hair movement single stage go for the TriggerTech ( I think the Elftmann is like that too) . Timney has a considerable longer uptake and I found it more like a traditional AR trigger. I have both but on diff rifles for different purposes. Triggertech adjustable on my competition AR for I want that speed and double tapping. Timney on my Troy PAR since I want a lighter smoother trigger but you can certainly use that on any AR as well.

Btw, if you are planning to have 7.62 uppers shooting milsurp then may be stick to factory style like triggers. I had some (not a lot) light primer strike when using the TT15.

At the risk of thread hijacking, but not really because its inline with the OP's initial query, I have to ask those using them; are the Giessele triggers really all they are hyped up to be? I have been a click away from buying one for some time now (hence my link posted above), but question whether or not the cash laid down is worth it. As well, I can't say that I have decided on which Giessele to buy... Thoughts?

I consider it like this. There's 3 critical components to a rifle not including optics, I'm talking rifle components.
Barrel, Bolt & Trigger.

Are the geisseles worth the money? Absolutely, I'm running two myself, soon to be 3.
The question that matters, and only you can answer, is are they worth it to you.
Some dudes can run #### box triggers incredibly well, some prefer a nicer trigger, and some people claim they need it.

Here's how I break it down on my rifles, YMMV.

If it's a competition or precision gun that can benefit from a nicer trigger? It gets a geissele.
If it's more of a "combat/CQB" orientated plateform, it gets an ALG ACT.

There are literally millions of after market triggers out there and it looks like every week someone comes up with something new.

Giessele is the gold standard not because they are necessarily the best "feeling" trigger out there (which can be a personal thing), but they are the most reliable and durable ones. You can go to the US government contract database and see that they are selling AR triggers to US federal agencies quite a lot.

Before Giessele, I don't recall anyone mentioning LE and Mil putting "match triggers" ( other than the sniper rifles) on their ARs.
