***Trigger report on new M14 build***

I recently put his together and I was really happy with how it turned out. So I thought I would share some pics. I would like to thank Canada Ammo, CQB Services, and a few CGNers who help me with the parts and pieces to put this together. Thank-you. jason
The scope is a Mark 4 3.5-10x40 Mildot. The trigger on this rig feels like a Sako TRG trigger, if some of you have not shot a TRG then you will not know what I am talking about. But those of you that have then you will know what I mean. I was just looking at it one day and wanted to smooth it out and polish the internals, so I took it apart polish the metal surfaces that made contact. Filed a few edges and test fired it constantly through my process. I was able to acheive a nice 1/8" smooth pull followed by a small contact point then a few more pounds and it fires. The pull is about one pound and the contact pull is about 2-3 pounds. Its really smooth and crisp. Can't wait for it to warm up outside and start putting rounds down range. Enjoy the pics.

Wow, nice build!

2 questions:

what did you use to mount the sling swivels to the side of your stock?

Where did you get/what did you use to make, that cheek riser?

My only comment is on the trigger. It is unsafe and downright dangerous to your health to reduce trigger pull under 4.5 lbs. Don't take my word for it, check the design specs and limitations. If you must reduce trigger pul to it's minum safe parameters, I do not recommend doing this with chinese parts.

Sorry forgot to mention all parts including trigger group are USGI parts. Not chinese.
 
4.5 lbs IS the minimum with G.I. Parts.
Not trying to be a ####, my motivation for posting is so that we all come home safe from the range ;) with our dicks intact as Hungry would say :D

Question about the scope mount/rail system: what brand, how much, where didja get it?

I am curious to how stable those Battlerails are in comparison to say an ARMS 18.

Would not mind throwing one on my M-14 when I finally get some spare cash to build it up. Might look good with the VLTOR stocks that are supposed to be here in the new year.
 
Side slings sucks. Just take this rig out in the woods and you will see. Secondly, a too light trigger pull is nutz and I would take the Doctors warning on this 1. Other than that nice rig.

What's the deal with the front sight?

Are you decide not to put any or still waiting for parts?

I always wanted to build a CQB shorty with a collapsible stock but haven't have the time (and money) to do so:p
 
Just to answer a few questions. The rail is a TROY BATTLE RAIL $350 bought from CQB Services (Thank-you, Joe) and it is IMOA the most solid mount you can put on an M14. The sling swivels are the fine threaded type with the washer and nut on the inside for strength. I mounted the sling on the side because of the fact I am tired of having it slung and those 20rnd mags digin into my back and when conducting mag changes the sling would sometimes get in the way. With the sling mounted on the side it does not obstruct the mag well and I don't have anything (mag, charging handle) digging into my spine. I also have some TROY BUIS on the way since the front sight mounted on the brake that Spcamno sold me will not work with the TROY rail system (Thank-you Spcamno for the brake, I love it)

Just to clearify. The trigger pull is not too light or dangerous for that matter like I said it has the same characteristics of a Sako TRG trigger pull. And in the end safety starts with the operator of the weapon system not the weapon.
