Looking to swap out my factory REM 700 trigger for either the trigger tech special or Timney Hit.

Price point , the trigger tech is almost $100 less

Trigger tech is Canadian made.

Anyone have experience with both and can provide recommendations.

Using my rifle mainly for hunting.

I had a Timney in a 700. It was a good trigger. Way better than the stock one. But then I went to a trigger tech special and have converted all my 700's to them now. Very crisp and repeatable.

I've never been impressed by Timney, though I've had a few. You might as well tune the factory trigger. That actually applies to several aftermarket triggers.

The Triggertechs are good; there is a solidity and smooth feel to them that is a hard thing to describe. The extra few bucks for the Special is worthwhile, but the Basic won't disappoint either.

Some people really get vexed about triggers on their firearms.

I have after-market triggers from Europe, China, South America, the US, and Canada.

Some of them are just too complicated and finicky and lay in bins, and likely never will go onto any of my rifles again.

I really like both Timney and Trigger Tech products.

I tend to lean towards the Trigger Tech products when I'm installing an aftermarket trigger on a Remington or post 64 Winchester Model 70 or some other rifles.

Trigger Tech is also "made in Canada"

They're very easy to set up and you can see what is happening during set up.

Both are well made but Timney makes triggers for models of firearms that TT doesn't.

Most shooters can't tell the difference between them when they're set up properly and shooting in the field or from the bench.

Both are extremely reliable and if set up properly won't lose adjustment.

You can't go wrong with either of them.

There is a slight difference when you're purchasing their specialty models. You pay for what you get.

Choose your trigger model for what your intended purpose for the use of the rifle is.

Match triggers, for the most part, aren't suitable for hunting.

The trigger you've selected will work very well for hunting.

I have both. Believe I have five Timney’s. One being a Calvin Elite. I have three Trigger Techs now and a fourth will be added soon on a new build. I quite like Timney. Not a bad word to say about them. Maybe a slight edge in preference to a TT for myself. All of them are on rifles that get hunted with. I’ve yet to have a hiccup and don’t expect to anytime soon either.

I have one on my Remington 700 ADL. It made a world of difference and was quick and easy to install. A very good product and a Canadian company as well. Would buy another one with no hesitation. Don't know about Timney as I've never had one but I hear they're good too.

The only thing about Trigger Tech is that there isn't (or was not when I bought mine) a trigger that locked the bolt on the Rem 700 when it is on Safe. A very useful feature when hiking through the dense woods with the rifle slung.

I have 4 Trigger Techs (field, primary, special, diamond) and 2 Timney's (The Hit, Vanguard) and they are all fine. The Hit and the Diamond are both really nice for precision work. All are fine for a sporting rifle.
