I am debating on replacing the trigger on my 40x rimfire i use for benchrest. I would like to get an idea on how heavy the current pull is before i do. The trigger i believe was worked a bit before i got it and is crisp. Whats the best way to go about measuring the pull weight. The trigger i am debating on replacing it with is a Jewell BR with bolt release.

Also if anyone here would know how low the factory trigger weight for this 1959 40x might be.

Thanks.

It could be as low as 4 ounces, they made different triggers for the 40X.

Are you a fisherman? Some fishing line, some fishing weights...

With the muzzle straight up lifting fishing weights should determine your trigger weight.

Not a fisherman but can get my hands on that stuff easy enough.

Guntech if i remember right from the guy i bought it off of i think you did some work on this rifle.

guntech rebarreled my current 40XB with a Lilja barrel and set the trigger at 4 oz. I don't recall Dennis doing any work on your rifle.

Ok I thought I remembered you saying he did the bedding/crown and trigger. Maybe its one of the current rifles you were talking about.

I just Hung 14 ounces from the trigger without it going off but I run out of weights so it cant be a 4 ounce trigger. I guess I will save up some money for a jewell .
