I am finally gonna tune up my 98K in 257 R by putting a half decent trigger on it. Anyone have any suggestions WRT the best one?? My bolt has a 3-posn safety on it, but I would like to get rid of it and go with one mounted on the trigger. Anyone have one they might sell or swap out??
Thanks

optima trigger with side safety. Available from Boyds gunstocks. There are other similar in shape and style.

These were based on the Parker Hale design and very nice.

I have also used Timneys and can recommend them.

Hey Mysticplayer, I think you and me had this same discussion two years ago? I still have your PM's LOL So what does this Optima trigger cost? and do you have to relieve the stock to fit it or does it drop right in?
Thanks for any info

None of the above, get a David Gentry bolt shroud with Win70 style safety and then use either the normal Bold trigger, or a Dayton Traiser all steel trigger ;)

Is there anyone in Canada that stocks the Optima or Timney?

Damned export permits!

As long as the cost of the trigger is less than US$100.00, you don't need an export permit to get one from the States.

I like the Dayton-Traister trigger. They are a lot easier to inlet into the stock as opposed to a Timney. But both are good triggers.

I believe Wholesale Sports, Russels and SIR list Timneys in their catalogs.

Sorry, man.
Even under the old regime, triggers were considered "critical components" and required paperwork. Under the current rules _any_ gun parts need the export permit to legally take it out of the USA

I guess we can agree to disagree about the trigger being 'critical gun parts. I'll be finding out soon. I've got a Dayton trigger on backorder from Brownells. I'll post when/if it arrives.

Just as a matter of interest, I recently received a pair of Mauser guard screws(gun parts) with no problem.

Here's the notice re: gun parts that Brownells posts. No mention of triggers as being 'critical gun parts'.

Gun Parts:

******Disregard this note if shipping in the US. This note only pertains to International orders.******"If gun parts exceed $100.00 OR an Action, Receiver, Frame, Cylinder, Barrel, Flash Hider or Military Scope is orderd a State Department License is required. If your order requires an export license our Export Department will contact you."

The Dayton-Traister trigger for my 1908 Brazilian arrived today from Brownells. There were absolutely no hang-ups with shipping, etc and it fits/functions perfectly.:)

Thats great Paul. It's nice when all goes well. Ian and I just put a Timney trigger in that Ruger .338 I showed you a few weeks ago. Man is it nice
