Maybe someone who has handled them can give me some input. I'm looking at/for a TA01, but I'm seeing that they are ~$300 cheaper than the other models. The trijicon site is not the best for info.
Why the price difference? I know the TA01 has full line illum vs a section of the cross hairs, but surely that's not the only difference? ( with the exception of the fiber optics tubes at the top).
Can someone weigh in?

really? that's it? damn that's simple/I feel like an idiot.
now, is the daytime illum. necessary? I've never had a chance to play with an acog, only an accupoint.

I have the TA01...I've never felt the need for the daytime illumination (plus I hear it washes out in bright sunlight anyhow).

Cant explain why it's $300 cheaper, but the straight TA01 does not come with a mount or back up iron back up sights and uses red full line illumination. The TA01NSN comes with a mount, iron sights and uses amber partial cross hair illumination. Neither come with the fiber optic tube. The TA31 is basically the same housing but comes with the fiber optic tube, mount and choice of reticules in green, red or amber. (more money)

The reticule is black on the TA01 and TA01NSN during the day. The tritium is not bright enough for day time.

TY cj50. That's the best breakdown I've heard about the acog lineup.

hey! it turns out that they have a model comparison chart... trijicon.com/resources/product_literature/ACOG_ComparisonChart.pdf
.5 inch clicks at 100 with 1.5 inch eye relief? all of a sudden I'm not so interested.

ok i am from USA and i do sell a few trijicon acog models before. The $300 dollars one you are looking at is replica fo trijicon acog. the Ta01 model normally cost from $750 - $800 brand new in USA so i know in Canada it will cost more than that. and Ta31f - ta31rco - ta31h-g blah blah cost from $1000 - $1400. So I dont know what $300 model you are looking at. the Ta01 model has one in amber cross hair or red cross hair when you use it at night time. If it doesn't aluminated , it is fake china made acog.
I hope this will help. :)

It's $300 less expensive and not $300 retail.

Yes the eye relief on the small 4X Acog's sucks. Take a good look at the TA11 models. Their eye relief is 3" (more than advertised). Day time fiber optic illumination is a nice feature. I put electrical tape over a portion of mine to adjust brightness to where I like it.

Here is a good article for you to read:

Yes, the TA11 and TA33 have better eye relief. Only Trijicon models in 3x or 3.5x I would consider personally. (got the cracked glasses to remind me :) )

I vehemently hate: fakes, clones, copies, knock-offs,counterfeits,"for training purposes only", airsoft, eotecks, aimpoimts, akogs, super sniper editions, etc. hell, I'm wary of buying optics at gunshows and on the EE for fear of getting burned. I expect to spend the $ because there are no shortcuts.

J996- that is a smoking awesome link! Thanks, that makes everything so much easier. The photos of the guys using the optics help immensely with seeing the actual eye relief.
How is the fiber on bright backgrounds such as snow? any different than something like the accupoint models?

I have the 11F model and the red chevron is very bright even in snow on a sunny day up in the mountains. For anything except snap shooting with both eyes open I have to put electrical tape over the fiber optic to dim it down, its that bright. I use mine out to 600 yards and its bang on at every distance.
