I looked through the Strike Eagle 1-8x yesterday. Not even sure how people compare this to the Trijicon as there's just no comparison between the two.

There's a rumor at ar15com that Nightforce is coming with a 1-8 at last. I wish it's true, it would be a great competitor to this Trijicon.
For those that have the Trijicon 1-8x how do you find the reticle?
I`m not even going to ask about the glass cos I`m sure its pretty clear
I suspect I`d feel the same - I have a 1-6x Strike Eagle and aint overly impressed
I recently picked up a 4-16 STAC from the EE and its amazing (super clear with heaps of eye relief), its only when I started using it that I realized how fish eyed and middle of the road the Strike Eagle is. I`m not even overly fussed on the reticle.
By contrast I also gave a Primary Arms 1-8x and feel its OK for the price point
Ultimately though I see a Trijicon 1-8x on my horizon......
Take a look through the Sightron 1-7. I have another one coming in the next couple days. Unreal eye relief, great reticle, and that Sightron glass.
I had thought of trying the Trijicon 1-8, but after reading a few posts here, I don't think I will.
So I guess the Swarvo-1-6, 1-8 and Khales 1-6 are still the best?, not considering the cost, just optics quality.' haven't decided which one to get.
Might be presumptuous there. I know the old trijicon 1-4's looked clear in the centre, but they "fish eyed" badly towards the edges. Not the best glass on the old ones for sure. Haven't looked through a 1-8 yet.

Had a look online at the Sightron offerings - seems there is a SIII and a STAC 1-7x - which have you got?
Except none of the above are FFP.
FFP in a low powered optic is a bit of a waste in my opinion. When making longer shots, you are at maximum magnification, which is where the reticle subtensions are at 1.0 anyways.
The bigger issue with FFP and a real downside is the reticle is too darn small at close to intermediate ranges. When transitioning you can lose the reticle much like 'dot chasing' on a cmore or other reflex scope.
It's personal preference but I like to see my crosshairs when i am moving and shooting.
FFP is great for long range or precision rifles, but for CQB or 3 gun it is a handicap.
If you haven't used the Trijicon 1-8 then you're out of your lane with respect to the reticle size at low magnification.
Lane? What lane?
I have played with FFP scopes on my AR for 3 gun . As stated, personal preference to gear selection . Decent Scopes are spendy, and it is a good thing when people hear of difference of opinion. It is how we avoid costly mistakes when buying optics
^Sounds like you have not looked through the Trijicon 1-8x.
