The 1-6x is few ounces lighter, and is only available in "no battery, always on" Fiber Optic/Tritium compare to the 1-8x which is only available in LED. The reticle options are also quite different between the two models.

The triangle reticle is very easy to use, and some people prefer 2nd focal plane offered by 1-6x versus first focal plane for the 1-8x.

Both have their pros and cons depending on your personal preferences.
