Trijicon ACOG TA11F-G Zeroing In Help

I just bought my self an Trijicon TA11F-G for my AR. It is the Green Chevron.

I know nothing about optics, since I have been using irons all my life.

Just a couple questions about zeroing in.

Is it true that I zero in my ACOG at 100 meters. Some people say 25 meters and others say 100 meters. Which is right?

What size target should I print and be trying to hit at 100 meters?

Shoud I be zeroing in at yards or meters?

Also does anyone know which parts of the reticule I use to aim at different distances?

Is a in the barrel bore sighter helpful?

Any other helpful hints or tips, before I go out next weekend and try to sight this thing in?

Hi there,

Most of your questions depend on the reticle used. Which one did yours come with? Also if you refer to the manual it will explain everything about your scope. Mine, TA11E, which is a green Chevron reticle, needs to be zeroed in @100m. After that using the BDC, i can accurately (theoretically) hit targets up to 800m.

Very important thing to note!! While zeroing in, if you notice that while you are adjusting the turrets, nothing is happening, i.e. you are still off. That is totally normal with ACOGs. They need to be smacked for the przim to reset, or alternately after a few shots the adjustments will be corrected. I dont like smacking my scopes

I couldnt find the manual online. I have a physical copy. It has some very good details about the BDC, where to aim, and how to determine the distance, zeroing in, etc. Another thing to note, never turn the turrets all the way. When you get the scope, it should be centered so zeroing in shouldnt take too many adjustments. When the turrets turn become harder and stiffer, you are reaching the end so be careful.
