Does anyone have a variant of this optic? I'm looking for some feedback, likes and dislikes. I'm interested in the TA47R-4 which is the red crosshair reticle. I think it might work well on a short 10" AR. Let me know what you guys think.

I've shot with the 1.5x Acogs and tried the 2x Acogs at Shot. They are wonderful little scopes. I would recommend one. They are a little pricey, but they are very easy to shoot with both eyes open, and if you need it, they offer a little bit of extra magnification.

I'd trade my Aimpoint T1 for a 1.5 or 2x Acog.
 
Just as an overall comment on Trijicon ACOG sights, they're well made and very durable. I have no experience with the smaller 1.5x and 2x models though.

I have owned and used a number of the 4x ACOGs but, like you, I have never had any experience with the little guys.

They are very light at 5.8 ounces, which is about 2 ounces lighter than a full size Aimpoint. The eye relief is much better than the full size 4 power optics.
 
Im interested to know more about the TA44 in comparison to the TA33. 1.5x vs 3x.

Can anyone with TA33 experience chime with info regarding its ability close up (25Y and under) using BAC?

I realize that the TA44 will be better close up and is more of a comparison to a T1 which is what I am looking for (astigmatism), but I have the option of a good deal on a TA33G-8 (NIB $1000)

Well, I own a TA33-8, so I'll throw in my $.02 (I just got it though, and took it out and shot it for the first time today). I can't compare it to the 1.5x, but I can compare it to the TA31. The FOV on the TA33 is somewhat narrower than the TA31, this is my biggest gripe about the sight. On the other hand, eye relief is longer and much more forgiving. The "8" model should be a chevron with a drop compensated reticule. I find at 25 yards (at least with my TA31, similar chevron reticule), if you place the illuminated bar underneath the chevron on your target, you're pretty much dead on. This is assuming a 100 yard zero. I haven't taken the time to precisely calculate where the rounds are hitting at CQB distances, rather I have a general feel for around where they hit. I'm sure that with a little bit of time and, shooting from known distances, you could calculate exactly where you hit at 5, 10, 15, etc. yards.

Im looking for an all around optic and read that this one is hard to beat. People say it does all well, but nothing perfect. T1 looks like blobs to my eyes so thats a no go.

Also, I wont ask you what you paid for yours, but is $1000 for a NIB TA33G-8 a good deal?
 
300 yard line you sight in at 36 yards and it will be same on the 1.5 to the 4x, which is a nice easy horizontal reference. I only shot the one you speak of once and it was a nice little guy.

This is correct. I own both the 4x and 6x ACOG. Even the 6x ACOG works perfectly at CQB distances with both eyes open.
 
WE just brought a few TA26SR-10 sights in for a customer. These are the special ring mount ones with circle dot reticle. They allow a very low mount for use on CX4 Storm or SAN CQB.
I really liked them, they are fast, clear, and pretty light. FWIW our price on these units is $929
